Overview
Aeromexico, Mexico’s flag carrier, provides a flexible flight change policy to accommodate passengers needing to modify their travel plans. Changes can be made online, through the mobile app, via the contact center, or at airport counters, subject to fare rules and availability.
Key Policy Highlights
- Risk-Free Period: Changes or cancellations are free within 24 hours of booking for tickets purchased directly through Aeromexico’s website or contact center, provided the booking is made at least seven days before departure.
- Eligible Tickets: Most tickets, except Basic fare, allow changes. Basic fare tickets are non-changeable and non-refundable. Classic, AM Plus, Comfort, Flexible, and Premier fares permit changes with varying conditions.
- Fare Difference: If the new flight is more expensive, passengers must pay the fare difference. No refund is provided if the new flight is cheaper, except for Flexible or Premier fares in some cases.
- Change Fees: Fees depend on fare type and timing. For domestic flights booked after a specific date in March, changes within seven days of departure incur a higher fee, while changes eight days or more before departure incur a lower fee. For flights booked before that date, a flat fee applies. Classic, Comfort, and AM Plus fares may incur a fee, while Flexible and Premier fares are often fee-free. International flights may have additional taxes based on the country of purchase.
- Same-Day Changes: Same-day changes are allowed for all fare types except Basic, up to three hours before departure, subject to availability. A fee may apply, and fare differences are charged if applicable.
- Flights from USA to Mexico: The first change is free for modifications to flight, date, time, or destination, subject to availability, with a fare difference if applicable.
- Name Changes: Name corrections for misspellings are free with valid ID. Full name changes are allowed for international flights (except Brazil point-of-sale or voucher-paid tickets) for a fee, if requested at least 15 days before departure.
- No-Show Policy: Failing to notify Aeromexico before a flight’s departure may result in cancellation of all remaining itinerary segments, except for Brazil routes. No-show fees apply only to Brazil routes.
- Third-Party Bookings: Changes for tickets booked through travel agencies or third-party platforms must be processed through the original booking source.
- Flex Fare Benefits: Classic Flex fares allow unlimited changes to flight, date, time, or destination without no-show fees and may be refunded as electronic vouchers, subject to availability and fare differences.

Special Circumstances
- Airline-Initiated Changes: If Aeromexico cancels or significantly changes a flight (e.g., over four hours), passengers can rebook on another flight without fees or request a full refund. The airline provides alternative flight options, which passengers can accept or decline.
- Medical or Bereavement: In cases of medical emergencies or bereavement, passengers may request fee waivers or refunds by providing documentation through customer service.
- COVID-19 Flexibility (Expired): Previously, Aeromexico offered fee waivers for changes due to COVID-19, but these policies are no longer active unless reinstated for similar circumstances.
Additional Notes
- Non-Transferable Services: Extras like seat selection or baggage allowances may not transfer to the new flight and may need to be repurchased.
- Checked Baggage: Checked baggage is included for most international flights, except to the USA, Canada, South America, and the Caribbean, where fees apply.
- Rewards Points: Passengers earn Aeromexico Rewards Points based on the ticket price (excluding taxes) or flight distance for partner airlines.
- Partner Airlines: For codeshare or partner-operated flights, changes may need coordination with the operating carrier, and Aeromexico’s policy may not fully apply.
