AirBaltic Baggage Policy
Cabin Baggage:
  • All Passengers: Allowed 1 cabin bag (55 x 40 x 23 cm) + 1 personal item (30 x 40 x 10 cm), with a combined weight of up to 8 kg, free of charge.
  • Business Class & airBaltic Club VIP: 2 cabin bags (55 x 40 x 23 cm each) + 1 personal item (30 x 40 x 10 cm), with a total weight of up to 24 kg.
  • airBaltic Club Executive (with Economy BASIC, CLASSIC, or FLEX tickets): 1 cabin bag + 1 personal item, up to 12 kg total.
  • Heavy Cabin Baggage Upgrade: Passengers with Economy BASIC, CLASSIC, or FLEX tickets can upgrade to 12 kg total for an additional fee starting at €11.99 (dimensions remain the same).
  • Oversized/Overweight Fees: If cabin baggage exceeds size or weight limits, a €30 fee applies at the airport. Oversized/overweight bags may be checked into the hold for €60.
Checked Baggage:
  • Business & Business EXPERIENCE: 2 bags (100 x 50 x 80 cm each), max 46 kg total, with no single bag exceeding 23 kg.
  • Economy FLEX: 2 bags (100 x 50 x 80 cm each), max 46 kg total, with no single bag exceeding 23 kg.
  • Economy CLASSIC & GREEN Plus: 1 bag (100 x 50 x 80 cm), max 23 kg.
  • Economy BASIC (Green): No free checked baggage. Can be purchased from €19.99 per bag per one-way journey when booked online at airBaltic.com, €34.99 via Manage My Booking or online check-in, €35 at travel agencies/ticket offices, or €60 at the airport check-in desk.
  • Weight/Dimension Limits: Maximum weight per bag is 32 kg; maximum dimensions are 100 x 50 x 80 cm.
  • Additional Baggage: Up to 3 bags per passenger can be added for a fee. Pre-booking online is cheaper (from €19.99 per bag).
Special Items:
  • Sports Equipment: Accepted items include skis, snowboards, bicycles, golf, diving, ice hockey, surfing, and fishing equipment. Business ticket holders and airBaltic Club VIP members get 1 set free. Fees start at €29.99 if booked online during ticketing, €39.99 if added later, or €60 at the airport. Max weight 23 kg; heavy equipment incurs a €60 fee.
  • Musical Instruments: Can be carried as cabin baggage if within size/weight limits or placed on an adjacent seat (max 32 kg, e.g., cellos, dimensions up to 35 x 40 x 135 cm or 42 x 43 x 85 cm) with a special ticket purchased at airBaltic ticket offices.
  • Pets: Dogs/cats can travel in the cabin (max 8 kg including carrier, 55 x 40 x 23 cm) for €55 one-way or in the cargo hold (max 75 kg including container, 80 x 156 x 86 cm). Restrictions apply for flights from the UK, Iceland, Ireland, and UAE.
  • Infants/Children: One collapsible stroller, carrycot, or car seat is free. Infants (under 2) get 1 checked bag up to 10 kg free, combinable with an adult’s allowance.
Additional Notes:
  • Lost/Damaged Baggage: Report damage within 7 days and lost baggage within 21 days to the airport’s Lost & Found or airBaltic Customer Relations. Compensation claims can be filed per the Montreal Convention.
  • Restricted Items: Liquids in cabin baggage are limited to 100 ml per container in a 1-liter transparent bag. Sharp objects and electronic cigarette batteries must be in checked baggage.
  • Codeshare/Interline Flights: Other airlines’ baggage rules may apply for connecting flights. Check the stricter policy if rules differ.
  • Enforcement: AirBaltic may weigh/measure luggage at the gate, especially for Economy fares. Non-compliant bags may incur fees or be checked into the hold. Anecdotal reports suggest enforcement varies, but compliance is recommended to avoid fees.
