Cabin Baggage:
  • Economy Class: 1 carry-on bag, max 10 kg (22 lbs), dimensions not exceeding 55 x 35 x 25 cm (21.7 x 13.8 x 9.8 in, including handles/wheels) + 1 personal item (e.g., handbag, laptop bag) up to 40 x 30 x 15 cm that fits under the seat.
  • Business Class: 2 carry-on bags, total max 14 kg (31 lbs) for domestic/European flights or 18 kg (40 lbs) for intercontinental flights, same dimensions as Economy + 1 personal item.
  • ATR 72 Aircraft: Max 8 kg for carry-on, dimensions 55 x 35 x 20 cm.
  • Additional Items: Free items include a handbag/wallet, reading material, overcoat, umbrella, camera/binoculars, laptop, wheelchair/crutches/prosthetic items, or 2 packaged ensaimadas per passenger (max 120 cm). Medications and syringes are allowed in carry-on, subject to security rules.
  • Enforcement: Air Europa is moderately strict, especially on busy flights or cheaper fares (e.g., Lite). Gate agents may use sizers and weigh bags. Oversized/overweight bags may be checked with a fee (starting at €60).
  • Liquids: Max 100 ml per container, total 1 liter, in a transparent plastic bag. Duty-free liquids must remain sealed in a security bag until the final destination.
  • Prohibited Items: Sharp objects (e.g., knives, scissors), explosives, and flammable items are banned in carry-on. Lithium-ion batteries (e.g., power banks) must be in carry-on, max 15 devices/20 spare batteries.
Checked Baggage:

Allowance by Fare Type and Route (max dimensions 158 cm/62 in, length + width + height)

  • Economy Lite: No free checked baggage; fees apply (e.g., €15–€50 within Europe, €50–€140 for intercontinental when prepaid).
  • Economy Standard/Flex: 1 bag, max 23 kg (50 lbs). For Bolivia/Venezuela: 2 bags, each 23 kg.
  • Business Class: 2 bags, each max 23 kg (50 lbs) for most routes; 3 bags for Dakar, Brazil (max 32 kg/70 lbs each), or New York (2 bags, 32 kg each).
  • Infants (under 2): 1 carry-on bag (10 kg) + same checked baggage allowance as the accompanying adult (if not Lite fare) + 1 foldable stroller, baby carrier, or car seat.
  • Children (2–11): Same baggage allowance as adults based on fare.

Miles & More/SkyTeam Benefits: Air Europa SUMA Silver/Gold/Platinum and SkyTeam Elite/Elite Plus members get 1 extra bag free (max 23 kg), provided total weight doesn’t exceed their allowance.

Excess Baggage Fees (per direction, approximate):

  • Domestic Spain (excl. Canary Islands): 1st bag €30 (prepaid) or €60 (airport); 2nd bag €40 (prepaid) or €60 (airport).
  • Europe (incl. Canary Islands): 1st bag €50 (prepaid) or €65 (airport); 2nd bag €50 (prepaid) or €65 (airport).
  • South America: 1st bag €120 (prepaid) or €140 (airport); 2nd bag €140 (prepaid) or €160 (airport). Max 5 bags for Havana, 10 for other routes.
  • Overweight (23–32 kg): Fees vary by route, payable only at Call Center or airport (e.g., €60–€100).
  • Oversized (>158 cm): €150 per bag.
Special Items:
  • Sports Equipment: Counts as checked baggage. Bicycles, scuba diving gear, surf equipment, pole vaults, and sporting firearms incur a €75 fee one-way, even within allowance. Other equipment (e.g., golf, skiing) free if within allowance; otherwise, standard excess fees apply. Reservation required.
  • Musical Instruments: Carry-on if within size/weight limits (e.g., violin). Checked instruments count as baggage (max 32 kg, hard case). Large instruments (e.g., paintings, art) can occupy an extra seat with a ticket, under passenger custody. Contact Customer Service.
  • Pets: Small pets (max 8 kg, including carrier, 45 x 35 x 25 cm) in-cabin for €25–€150, depending on route. Larger pets in hold (max 50 kg, including crate); fees vary. Reservation required.
  • Medical/Mobility Aids: Wheelchairs, crutches, and prosthetic devices are free. Oxygen cylinders must be empty, with valves separated, for checked baggage. Portable oxygen concentrators allowed in-cabin per FAA guidelines.
  • Valuables/Cash: Declare amounts over €10,000 at Customs (e.g., Madrid Terminal 1, Room 1). Cremated remains allowed in carry-on in a covered urn, subject to local regulations.
Additional Notes:
  • Codeshare/Interline Flights: For UX2000/UX3000 series flights, check ticket for allowance. On mixed-carrier itineraries, the longest leg’s allowance applies. Separate tickets follow the operating carrier’s rules. Baggage is checked through to the final destination if on the same booking.
  • Lost/Damaged Baggage: Report damage or loss at the airport’s Air Europa counter before leaving, filing a Property Irregularity Report (PIR). Damage claims must be filed within 7 days, lost baggage within 21 days. Track online. Compensation per Montreal Convention (up to ~€1,414).
  • Check-In: Online check-in opens 48 hours before departure; closes 60 minutes (intercontinental, e.g., Lima: 90 min, Caracas: 120 min) or 45 minutes (domestic/Europe) before flight. Airport check-in requires baggage drop ≥15 minutes before deadline.
