Air Europa Cancellation Policy

Air Europa’s cancellation policy varies based on fare type, booking time, and departure date. Here are the key points:

24-Hour Cancellation Policy: For tickets purchased at least seven days before departure, you can cancel within 24 hours of booking for a full refund without fees, regardless of fare type. This applies especially to flights to/from the United States, per DOT regulations.

After 24 Hours:

Economy Class:

  • Lite and Standard fares: Non-refundable, except in specific cases like cancellations within 24 hours or due to extraordinary circumstances (e.g., natural calamities, illness, or bereavement).
  • Flex fares: Cancellations allowed with a penalty of €30 for short/medium-haul flights or €150/USD 175 for long-haul flights if canceled at least 15 days before departure.

Business Class:

  • Standard (D, I, O) fares: Non-refundable.
  • Flex (J/C) fares: Can be canceled without penalty at any time, including no-shows.

Cancellations beyond the 24-hour window may incur fees based on fare type, route, and timing. Non-refundable tickets may not qualify for refunds unless canceled due to specific reasons like illness or death, with documentation.

Airline-Initiated Cancellations: If Air Europa cancels a flight, fails to operate on schedule, or causes a missed connection, you’re entitled to:

  • A full refund if no portion of the ticket is used.
  • A partial refund for used portions, based on the fare difference, or a full refund if the flight no longer serves your travel plan.
  • Rebooking on the next available flight or compensation up to €600 under EU Regulation 261/2004, unless caused by extraordinary circumstances (e.g., weather, strikes).
How to Cancel:
  • Offline: Contact Air Europa’s customer service +1-877-240-6770, visit an airport ticket counter, or message via social media
  • If booked through a third-party agency, contact the agency directly for cancellations/refunds.
Refund Process:
  • Refunds are issued to the ticket purchaser or authorized person, requiring unused flight coupons.
  • Taxes and airport fees for unused portions are typically refundable, minus penalties.
  • Processing takes about 7 business days, credited to the original payment method.
Special Cases:
  • Refunds or date changes are allowed without penalty for cancellations due to hospitalization, illness, or death (within 3 days of travel, or 20 days for death), with documentation.
  • No refunds for same-day booking and departure cancellations, even within 24 hours, or for expired tickets.

EU Passenger Rights: Under Regulation 261/2004, for flights departing from EU airports (or operated by EU carriers), you may claim compensation (€250–€600 based on flight distance) for cancellations with less than 14 days’ notice, unless caused by extraordinary circumstances.
