On ATR aircraft, max length 180 cm; otherwise, cargo shipping required.
    • Counts toward allowance if within limits; excess fees apply otherwise.

  • Child Restraint Devices: Infant car seats or harnesses allowed in-cabin with prior notification. Cots available on international flights for infants up to 12 months/11 kg/74 cm (request at booking).
Additional Notes:
  • Codeshare/Interline Flights: The Most Significant Carrier (MSC) rule applies per IATA Resolution 302. For transatlantic routes, the transatlantic carrier’s policy applies. For Air France-operated Mauritius–Europe flights, Air France’s rules may apply (e.g., 12 kg carry-on for Economy). Separate tickets follow each carrier’s rules.
  • Lost/Damaged Baggage: Report damage within 7 days, loss within 21 days at the airport or online (Property Irregularity Report). Compensation per Montreal Convention (up to ~€1,414). Air Mauritius recommends name tags on all checked bags and may refuse inadequately packed baggage.
  • Check-In: Online check-in opens 30 hours before departure; closes 60 minutes prior. Airport check-in opens 3 hours before, closes 60 minutes before. Baggage drop required ≥60 minutes prior.
  • Public Sentiment: Travelers on forums like Tripadvisor note Air Mauritius’s enforcement of the 23 kg limit for Economy but report occasional leniency up to 30 kg on European routes (excl. Paris). Strict size checks (158 cm) are common, especially at Mauritius SSR. High excess fees are a frequent complaint, but prepayment discounts are appreciated.
