Air Mauritius Flight Change Policy

Overview

Air Mauritius, the national carrier of Mauritius, offers a flexible flight change policy to accommodate passengers needing to modify their travel plans. Changes can be made online via the Manage My Booking portal, through the Contact Centre, or at airport ticket counters, subject to fare rules and availability.

Key Policy Highlights
  • Risk-Free Period: Changes or cancellations are free within 24 hours of booking for tickets purchased directly through Air Mauritius’s website, mobile app, or Contact Centre, provided the booking is made at least seven days before departure. This does not apply to same-day ticket purchases.
  • Eligible Tickets: Most fare types, including Economy and Business Class, allow changes, except for certain promotional or restricted fares, which may be non-changeable or subject to higher fees.
  • Fare Difference: If the new flight is more expensive, passengers must pay the fare difference. If the new flight is cheaper, a travel credit may be issued for the difference, depending on the fare type.
  • Change Fees: Fees vary by fare type, route, and timing. Economy fares may incur a fee for domestic flights and a higher fee for international flights, while Business Class fares may have restricted change options after the risk-free period. Flex fares, if available, may allow fee-free changes.
  • Same-Day Changes: Changes up to three hours before departure are permitted, subject to availability. Fees apply for non-flexible fares, and the new flight must have the same origin and destination.
  • Name Changes: Full name changes or ticket transfers are not permitted. Minor corrections (up to three characters) for spelling errors or legal name changes (e.g., due to marriage) are allowed with documentation, such as a marriage certificate, and may be free within 24 hours of booking.
  • Third-Party Bookings: Tickets booked through travel agencies or third-party platforms must be changed through the original booking source, and Air Mauritius’s policy may not fully apply.
  • Time Restrictions: Changes must be made before the check-in deadline for the flight. No-show passengers who fail to cancel before the deadline may have their return or onward reservations canceled.
  • Codeshare Flights: For flights operated by codeshare partners like Air France or Emirates, change policies are governed by the operating carrier’s rules, which may differ from Air Mauritius’s policy.

  • Enter your six-character booking reference and last name to retrieve your reservation.
  • Select the flight to modify, choose a new flight, and review any fees or fare differences.

Offline:

Special Circumstances
  • Airline-Initiated Changes: If Air Mauritius cancels, significantly delays, or fails to stop at a destination, passengers can rebook on another flight without fees or request a refund for the unused portion. EU/UK passengers may be eligible for compensation under EC 261/2004 for delays or cancellations within the airline’s control.
  • Medical or Bereavement: In cases of serious illness or death, ticket validity may be extended up to three months with a medical certificate or other documentation. Accompanying family members’ tickets may also be modified. Fee waivers may be granted with supporting evidence, such as a medical or death certificate.
  • Group Bookings: Group bookings allow name changes before ticket issuance, subject to approval, and offer preferential fares. Contact the dedicated sales team for assistance.
Additional Notes
  • Non-Transferable Services: Extras like seat selection or baggage allowances may not transfer to the new flight and may need to be repurchased. For codeshare flights with Air France, seat selection may incur a fee, while it is free with Emirates.
  • Ticket Validity: Tickets are valid for one year from issuance or from the first flight date, with extensions possible for medical reasons or unconfirmed reservations.
  • Kestrelflyer Program: Members may use miles for upgrades or extra baggage, but changes to award tickets follow the same fare rules.
  • Multi-City Option: Passengers can book flights with different departure and return cities using the Multi-city Option, subject to fare rules.
