Air Serbia Baggage Policy

Cabin Baggage:

Economy Class (Light, Standard, Comfort): 1 carry-on bag, max 8 kg (17.6 lbs), dimensions not exceeding 55 x 40 x 23 cm (21.7 x 15.7 x 9 in, including handles/wheels) + 1 personal item (e.g., handbag, laptop bag, small backpack) max 4 kg (8.8 lbs), dimensions up to 35 x 20 x 50 cm (14 x 7 x 20 in), fitting under the seat.
Business Class: 2 carry-on bags, 1st bag max 8 kg (55 x 40 x 23 cm), 2nd bag max 4 kg (35 x 20 x 50 cm) + 1 personal item.
Infants (under 2): No carry-on allowance, but collapsible strollers, baby carriages (e.g., bassinet, carrycot), and baby food for the flight are permitted free.
Additional Items: Duty-free bags, jackets, umbrellas, cameras, reading material, and medical devices (e.g., crutches, folding wheelchairs) are allowed free, subject to space.
Enforcement: Strict checks at check-in and gates, especially at Belgrade (BEG), with sizers and scales. Oversized/overweight bags may be checked into the hold with fees (starting at €50). Reddit posts note inconsistent weighing (e.g., not always enforced for carry-ons on BEG–OTP or BEG–LHR flights), but compliance is advised.
Liquids: Max 100 ml per container, total 1 liter, in a transparent, resealable bag (20 x 20 cm). Duty-free liquids must remain sealed with a receipt.

Checked Baggage:

Allowance by Fare Type and Route (max 158 cm/62 in, length + width + height, except 203 cm/80 in for special items with approval):

Economy Light: No free checked baggage; fees apply.
Economy Standard/Comfort: 1 bag, max 23 kg (50 lbs).
Economy Classic Flex: 2 bags, each max 23 kg (50 lbs).
Business Class: 2 bags, each max 32 kg (70 lbs).
Flights to/from USA/Canada: Economy (all fares) 2 bags, each max 23 kg; Business 2 bags, each max 32 kg.
Infants (under 2): Same as adult allowance (except Light fare) + 1 collapsible stroller, car seat, or carrycot.
Children (2–11): Same as adult allowance.

Etihad Guest/Star Alliance Benefits: Silver/Gold/Platinum members and Star Alliance Gold get 1 extra bag (23 kg Economy, 32 kg Business) on Air Serbia flights.

Max Limits: Up to 5 extra bags allowed. Bags >32 kg or >203 cm (except musical instruments, sports equipment, or wheelchairs with prior approval) must be shipped via Air Serbia Cargo.

Special Items:

Sports Equipment: Categorized as small (≤140 cm, ≤15 kg), medium (≤180 cm, ≤32 kg), or large (≤277 cm, ≤45 kg, requires approval). Small/medium included in allowance if within limits; otherwise, fees apply (€125–€225). Bikes and sports guns need prior approval.
Musical Instruments: Carry-on if within size/weight limits. Checked as baggage (max 32 kg, counts toward allowance). Extra seat option for large instruments (contact Air Serbia 48 hours prior).

Additional Notes:

Codeshare/Interline Flights: For U.S./Canada routes, the first ticketed carrier’s baggage rules apply throughout (e.g., Air Serbia for JU-coded flights). For other routes, the Most Significant Carrier (MSC) rule applies (longest leg). Separate tickets follow each carrier’s rules; baggage may not be checked through.
Lost/Damaged Baggage: Report at airport Baggage Service desk upon arrival (Property Irregularity Report issued). Damage claims within 7 days, loss within 21 days. Compensation per Montreal Convention (up to ~€1,414). Recent reviews highlight frequent lost baggage issues at Belgrade (e.g., 20–30 bags daily at Schiphol), with slow resolution.
Check-In: Online check-in 48 hours to 1 hour prior; airport check-in opens 2 hours (3.5 hours for New York, Chicago, Guangzhou, Shanghai), closes 45 minutes (60 minutes for those cities) before departure.
