Air Seychelles Baggage Policy

Cabin Baggage:

Economy Class: 1 carry-on bag, max 7 kg (15 lbs), dimensions not exceeding 55 x 40 x 20 cm (21.7 x 15.7 x 7.9 in, including handles/wheels) + 1 personal item (e.g., handbag, laptop bag, slim-line backpack, briefcase) that fits under the seat.
Business Class: 1 carry-on bag, max 12 kg (26 lbs), same dimensions + 1 personal item.
Infants (under 2): 1 carry-on bag, max 5 kg (11 lbs), same dimensions.
Additional Items: Free items include jackets, umbrellas, cameras, reading material, infant carry baskets, baby food for the flight, and assistive devices (e.g., crutches, collapsible wheelchairs). One pram/stroller per infant/child is free.
Enforcement: Strict checks at Seychelles International Airport (SEZ) and Praslin (PRI) due to small aircraft (e.g., Twin Otter for domestic routes). Oversized bags (e.g., reusable shopping bags, open tote bags) are not accepted as carry-on or checked baggage. Oversized/overweight bags may be checked into the hold with fees.
Liquids: Max 100 ml per container, total 1 liter, in a transparent, resealable bag.
Prohibited Items: Sharp objects, flammables, and excessive lithium-ion batteries (>100 Wh or >2 spares) banned in carry-on. For U.S.-bound flights, electronic devices larger than smartphones (e.g., laptops, tablets, cameras) must be in checked baggage per TSA rules.

Checked Baggage:

International Flights (Weight Concept, e.g., Mauritius, Mumbai, Johannesburg, Colombo, Tel Aviv):

Economy Class: 30 kg (66 lbs).
Business Class: 40 kg (88 lbs).
Infants (under 2): 10 kg (22 lbs) + 1 pram, stroller, or car seat.
Children (2–11): Same as adult allowance.

Domestic Flights (Mahé–Praslin, Weight Concept):

Residents (point-to-point): 15 kg (33 lbs) checked + 5 kg (11 lbs) carry-on (total 20 kg).
Non-Residents (point-to-point): 23 kg (50 lbs) checked + 5 kg (11 lbs) carry-on (total 28 kg).
Infants (under 2): 10 kg (22 lbs) checked + 5 kg (11 lbs) carry-on.
Through Tickets (International to Domestic): Same allowance as the international flight applies to the domestic leg if booked on the same ticket (e.g., Emirates’ 25 kg + 5 kg for Mahé–Praslin if Praslin is the final destination).

Max Limits: Single bag max 32 kg (70 lbs) and 90 x 75 x 43 cm (35 x 29.5 x 17 in). Bags >32 kg or oversized must be repacked or shipped via Air Seychelles Cargo.

Etihad Guest/Seychelles Plus Benefits: Silver/Gold/Platinum members get additional weight (e.g., +10 kg) or an extra bag (23 kg Economy, 32 kg Business) on Air Seychelles flights, depending on tier.

Excess Baggage Fees (per direction, approximate):

Domestic (Mahé–Praslin): $3–$5/kg (online), $6/kg (airport).
International: $20–$30 for 5 kg (online), $25–$35 (sales office), $30–$40 (airport). Max 30 kg extra per passenger.
Prepayment: Purchase via “Manage Booking” or during booking for up to 50% discount. Non-refundable unless baggage is lost.

Special Items:

Sports Equipment: Fishing, cycling, diving, golf, or surfing equipment included in allowance if ≤32 kg and ≤158 cm (62 in). Excess fees apply ($85–$200). Oversized items (>158 cm) may require cargo shipping.
Musical Instruments: Carry-on if within size/weight limits. Checked as baggage (counts toward allowance, max 32 kg). Extra seat option for large instruments (contact Air Seychelles 48 hours prior).
Pets: Not allowed in-cabin. Cats, dogs, and household birds (domestic Seychelles only) can be transported in the hold (max 32 kg with carrier, fee $125 domestic, $200 international). Prior approval required.
Firearms/Ammunition: Allowed as checked baggage (max 5 kg ammo, unloaded, packed) with prior approval. Fees apply ($100–$200).
Mobility Aids: Wheelchairs, crutches free, stored in hold or cabin if space permits.
Strollers/Car Seats: Free for infants/children, tagged at check-in.

Additional Notes:

Codeshare/Interline Flights: For through tickets (e.g., with Etihad Airways, Air India), the international carrier’s allowance applies to domestic legs if Praslin is the final destination. Separate tickets follow Air Seychelles’ domestic rules (15 kg residents, 23 kg non-residents). Passengers must re-check baggage at Mahé’s domestic terminal.
Check-In: Online check-in opens 24 hours prior, closes 1 hour before departure. Airport check-in closes 60 minutes (international) or 45 minutes (domestic) before departure. Baggage drop at oversized counters for special items.
