Allegiant Air Cancellation Policy

Allegiant Air’s cancellation policy varies by fare type, booking timing, and whether Trip Flex is purchased. Here’s a concise overview based on the latest information:

24-Hour Cancellation Policy: You can cancel any flight within 24 hours of booking for a full refund to the original payment method without fees, provided the booking is made at least 7 days (168 hours) before departure. This applies to all fare types, except bookings made within 7 days of departure, group bookings, or packages (e.g., air plus hotel/car). Refunds are not issued for cancellations within 7 days of departure unless Trip Flex is purchased.

After 24 Hours:
  • Non-Refundable Fares (most tickets): Cancellations incur a $25 USD fee per passenger per segment (temporarily reduced from $75 due to COVID-19). The remaining value is issued as a non-refundable travel voucher, valid for one year from the original booking date. No credit is issued for cancellations within 7 days of departure or no-shows, except for refundable taxes.
  • Trip Flex Fares: Purchasing Trip Flex ($8–$20 per person per segment) allows one-time cancellation or change without fees, up to 1 hour before flight departure or 72 hours for air/hotel packages. The ticket value is issued as a non-refundable voucher (minus carrier charges, Trip Flex, and booking fees), valid for one year. Trip Flex can be canceled within 24 hours of purchase for a refund if no changes are made.
  • No-Show: Failure to cancel before departure forfeits the ticket value, including return flights, except for taxes.

Airline-Initiated Cancellations: If Allegiant cancels or significantly delays a flight (e.g., 3+ hours for controllable reasons), you’re entitled to:

  • A full refund, including taxes, fees, and ancillary services (e.g., baggage, seats), within 7–10 business days to the original payment method.
  • Rebooking on the next available Allegiant or partner airline flight at no cost, potentially from a nearby airport.
  • For delays/cancellations within Allegiant’s control, meal vouchers are provided for 3+ hour delays, and hotel accommodations/ground transport are offered for overnight delays (reimbursement requires receipts).
  • For EU departures, under Regulation 261/2004, compensation of €250–€600 may apply if notified less than 14 days before departure, unless due to extraordinary circumstances (e.g., weather, strikes).
  • Weather-related cancellations allow rebooking within 7 days at no cost or a refund/credit. Contact Customer Care for assistance.
Special Circumstances:
  • Medical or Bereavement: Allegiant does not offer exceptions for medical emergencies or bereavement, maintaining strict policies to keep fares low.
  • COVID-19: No specific waivers currently apply, but past policies (2020–2021) allowed fee-free changes. Standard policies now govern.
  • Packages: Air/hotel or air/car bundles are non-refundable. Canceling requires rebooking at current rates; hotel-only cancellations follow specific terms in the “Hotels” subsection.
How to Cancel:
  • By Phone: Call +1-877-240-6770. Service fees may apply for offline cancellations.
  • Travel Agency: If booked through an agent, cancellations must be processed through them.
  • At Airport: Visit an Allegiant ticket counter, but check-in closes 45 minutes before departure.
Refund Process:
  • Refunds (within 24 hours or airline-initiated) are processed within 7–10 business days to the original payment method; cash/check refunds may take 20 days.
  • Vouchers are non-transferable, stored in your myAllegiant™ Account, and valid for one year from the original booking date, non-extendable.
  • Taxes and fees are refundable for unused tickets, even for non-refundable fares, minus booking/carrier charges.
