Allegiant Air Missed Flight Policy

Overview

Allegiant Air’s missed flight policy is governed by its Terms and Conditions and Customer Service Plan. As a low-cost carrier, Allegiant has strict policies for missed flights, with options depending on fare type, whether Trip Flex was purchased, and the reason for missing the flight. For flights departing from the EU, EU Regulation 261/2004 may apply. Below is a detailed guide on handling missed flights with Allegiant Air.

Missed Flight Due to Passenger’s Responsibility

If you miss your flight due to arriving late, failing to check in on time, or lacking valid travel documents, the following applies:

  • Non-Refundable Tickets: Most Allegiant fares are non-refunded. If you miss your flight and are marked as a no-show, the entire ticket value is forfeited, including onward and return flights, with no credit issued. Airport taxes and fees may be refundable if requested within one year of the booking date.
  • Trip Flex Tickets: If you purchased Trip Flex at booking, you can modify or cancel your itinerary up to 1 hour before departure without change fees (one-time use). You may receive a non-refunded travel voucher for the ticket value, minus carrier charges and booking fees, valid for one year from the original booking date. A fare difference may apply for rebooking.
  • No-Show Policy: Failure to check in or notify Allegiant before departure results in a no-show status, leading to cancellation of the entire itinerary without refund or credit. If you contact Allegiant within 2 hours after departure and provide a valid reason (e.g., medical emergency with documentation), you may be eligible for rebooking on a standby flight, subject to availability and fees.
  • 24-Hour Cancellation Policy: If you cancel within 24 hours of booking and the departure is at least 7 days away, you can receive a full refund to the original payment method, even for non-refunded tickets. After 24 hours, non-Trip Flex tickets are non-refunded.
Note: Allegiant recommends arriving at the airport 2 hours before departure. Check-in closes 45 minutes prior to departure, and boarding gates close 20 minutes before departure. Online check-in is available 24 hours to 1 hour before departure. A $5 fee per boarding pass applies for airport check-in, waived for passengers required to check in at the counter.
Missed Connecting Flight Due to Airline Delays

If you miss a connecting flight due to a delay or cancellation of an Allegiant-operated flight within the same booking, Allegiant’s policy applies:

  • Rebooking: Allegiant will rebook you on the next available Allegiant flight at no additional cost, which may depart from a nearby airport. Unlike some airlines, Allegiant does not rebook on partner airlines. If no flights are available, you may need to wait for the next day’s flight.
  • Right to Care: For delays within Allegiant’s control (e.g., maintenance issues) lasting 3+ hours, Allegiant provides meal vouchers or an appropriate meal and beverage. If an overnight stay is required, Allegiant may offer hotel accommodations or reimburse reasonable expenses (receipts required). Allegiant is not liable for meals or accommodations for delays beyond their control (e.g., weather).
  • Compensation: For EU-regulated flights delayed 3+ hours at the final destination due to reasons within Allegiant’s control, you may be eligible for compensation of up to €600, based on flight distance:
    • €250 for flights up to 1,500 km
    • €400 for flights between 1,500 and 3,500 km
    • €600 for flights over 3,500 km
Compensation is not available for delays due to extraordinary circumstances (e.g., weather, air traffic control). For U.S. domestic flights, Allegiant is not required to offer cash compensation but may provide a voucher as a goodwill gesture.
  • Refund Option: If you choose not to travel due to a significant delay or cancellation, you may request a full refund for the unused portion of your ticket, including taxes and ancillary fees, even for non-refunded tickets. Refunds are processed within 7 days for credit card purchases and 20 days for other payment methods.
Note: Allegiant operates point-to-point flights with no connecting flight guarantees unless booked as a single itinerary. If your connecting flight is on a separate ticket, Allegiant is not responsible for missed connections. Contact the operating airline or your booking agent.
Steps to Take if You Miss a Flight

If you miss your flight, follow these steps:

  1. Provide Booking Details: Have your confirmation code or booking reference ready (available in your confirmation email or myAllegiant account).
  2. Explore Options: If you have Trip Flex, modify your booking online or request rebooking at the airport (subject to availability and fare differences). Without Trip Flex, you may be charged a $25–$75 fee per segment for changes, or the ticket may be forfeited if you’re a no-show. For refunds, cancel within 24 hours of booking (if 7+ days before departure) for a full refund.
  3. Submit a Claim (if applicable): For delays within Allegiant’s control, file a claim via the Customer Request Assistance page. Include your booking reference, boarding pass, receipts, and details of the issue. For EU-regulated flights, claims must be submitted within 3 years.
