Medications and baby food are exempt but must be declared (e.g., with a prescription). Duty-free items purchased on the day of travel can be carried in a sealed bag with proof of purchase.

Additional Notes:

  • Oversized or overweight carry-on bags may be checked at the gate with fees: $90 (Zones 1, 2, 6), $110 (Zones 3–4), $120–$150 (Zone 5: USA/Canada).
  • Passengers in exit rows or Business Class must stow all baggage in overhead bins for safety.
  • Prohibited items include sharp objects (e.g., knives, scissors), lighters (on US flights), and Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices. Smart bags with lithium batteries are allowed as carry-on only if batteries are removable (max two spare batteries per person).
  • Enforcement of weight limits (e.g., 8 kg for Economy) may vary, but size is strictly checked, especially for larger carry-ons. Anecdotal reports suggest occasional leniency for slightly overweight bags if redistributed.

  • Excess baggage over 20 kg must be registered via Special Reservations.

Codeshare/Connecting Flights:

  • For connecting flights with partner airlines (e.g., Lufthansa), the first carrier’s rules apply if on the same ticket. Separate tickets may require collecting and rechecking baggage. Condor may not interline baggage on separate tickets.
Special Items (Sporting Equipment, Musical Instruments, etc.):
  • Allowance: Items like golf bags, bicycles, or surfboards count toward the free baggage allowance if within size (158 cm) and weight (20–32 kg) limits.
  • Specific Rules:
    • Sports Equipment: Bicycles, surfboards, and scuba gear require advance registration. Fees (if not within allowance): $50–$100; oversized equipment may be refused if not pre-registered. Max dimensions: 200 x 40 x 100 cm or 300 x 40 x 60 cm; max weight: 30 kg.
    • Musical Instruments: Small instruments (within 55 x 40 x 20 cm) can replace carry-on. Larger instruments require Special Reservations or a purchased seat.
    • CPAP Machines: Free, but must meet carry-on size/weight limits or be packed for checked baggage. Register make, model, weight, and dimensions in advance.
  • Non-Accepted Items: Items over 32 kg or 300 cm, Samsung Galaxy Note 7, and certain hazardous items (e.g., lighters on US flights).
  • Mobility Aids: Strollers, car seats, and cribs are free (max two per child). Wheelchairs require advance notification.
Pet Policy:
  • Small dogs and cats can travel in the cabin (max 8 kg including carrier, 40 x 40 x 26 cm). Fees: $60–$120, depending on zone.
  • Larger pets travel in the cargo hold; fees and carrier size restrictions apply. Advance booking and health documentation required.
  • Assistance dogs travel free in the cabin with prior approval.
Tips to Avoid Fees:
  • Measure bags (carry-on: 55 x 40 x 20 cm; personal item: 40 x 30 x 10 cm; checked: 158 cm) and weigh them (8–16 kg for carry-on, 20–32 kg for checked).
  • Prepay baggage online (up to 8 hours before departure) for up to 50% savings.
  • Pack light using packing cubes and wear bulky items to save space.
  • For codeshares, confirm the operating carrier’s rules (e.g., Lufthansa for FRA-BER).
  • Label bags with contact details.
  • Arrive early (check-in closes 45 minutes before departure).
  • Anecdotal reports suggest high baggage fees (e.g., nearly flight cost for multiple bags); prepay to avoid surprises.
Lost, Delayed, or Damaged Baggage:
  • Report at the airport’s Lost and Found for a Property Irregularity Report (PIR). Report damage within 7 days, delays within 21 days.
  • Condor offers repair or replacement for damaged baggage via partners.
  • Liability is limited per international conventions; no responsibility for normal wear or TSA damage.
