Czech Airlines Flight Change Policy

Overview

Czech Airlines, now operating under Smartwings as a holding company, allows passengers to modify flight bookings under specific conditions based on fare type and booking source. Changes can be made online via the My Bookings application or through the Contact Centre, with potential fees and fare differences applied. As of late October, Czech Airlines ceased independent flight operations, with Smartwings managing flights previously operated under the OK designator code.

Key Points
  • Free Changes Within Initial Period: Changes made within one day of booking are free if purchased directly through Czech Airlines’ website and the flight departs at least one week later, applicable to bookings with up to nine passengers and not made with a travel voucher.
  • Change Fees: After the initial period, fees apply based on fare type. Lite package tickets cannot be rescheduled, while Plus and Flex packages allow changes for a fee per direction, plus fare differences if the new flight is more expensive. Fees are higher for changes made through the Contact Centre or ticketing offices compared to online changes.
  • Fare Differences: Passengers must pay any fare difference if the new flight is more expensive. Refunds for cheaper flights are generally not provided, except for unused airport taxes in some cases.
  • Change Types: Passengers can modify departure or arrival dates and times for all passengers in the same reservation but cannot change passenger names or departure/arrival airports. Changes must be made at least three days after the scheduled departure.
  • Change Process: For direct bookings, changes can be made online via the My Bookings application using the reservation reference and last name. Special service bookings, like pet transport or unaccompanied minors, require Contact Centre assistance.
  • Third-Party Bookings: Changes for tickets booked through travel agencies or partner airlines must be handled through the original booking source.
  • Involuntary Changes: If a flight is canceled or significantly delayed, passengers can rebook without penalty for a new travel date, with fare differences applied if necessary, or opt for a voucher for future use.
  • Ticket Validity: Changed tickets remain valid for one year from the original issuance date, unless specified otherwise by fare rules.
  • Smartwings Transition: Since Czech Airlines’ flight operations shifted to Smartwings, changes apply to flights now operated under the QS designator code, using Smartwings’ fleet, including Boeing 737s, Airbus A320s, and A220s. Policies may align with Smartwings’ terms for new bookings.
Additional Information

Passengers should review the Conditions of Carriage and fare rules on the Czech Airlines or Smartwings website for specific details. Online changes are recommended for direct bookings to avoid additional service fees. For third-party bookings or special services, contact the booking source or the Contact Centre. Due to the transition to Smartwings, verify the operating airline and fare conditions, as policies may vary.
