Overview
Frontier Airlines allows passengers to modify flight bookings, including changes to dates, times, or destinations, subject to fare rules and availability. Changes must be made before the scheduled departure time to avoid a no-show cancellation, which results in the loss of ticket value.
Key Conditions
- Changes are permitted for tickets purchased through Frontier’s website, mobile app, or authorized travel agents.
- Modifications must be made before the check-in deadline, typically a short time before departure.
- Changes to flights operated by partner airlines are subject to the operating carrier’s policies.
- All tickets are non-refundable unless refundability was purchased at booking or specific conditions are met, such as significant flight disruptions.
- Name changes are allowed for the same itinerary but may incur a fee and fare difference.
24-Hour Change Policy
Passengers can change or cancel their booking within a day of purchase without a fee, provided the flight is at least a week away and was booked directly through Frontier. This applies to both paid and award tickets.
Change Fees
- No change fees apply for Economy, Premium, or Business bundles, or for passengers with Elite status (Gold, Platinum, or Diamond) when changes are made at least a week before departure.
- For Basic or Standard fares, change fees apply based on the timing of the change relative to departure, with higher fees closer to the travel date.
- Fare differences are charged if the new flight is more expensive; no residual value is given if the new flight is cheaper.
- Same-day confirmed flight changes incur a fee for Basic or Standard fares unless covered by a bundle or Elite status.
- Changes to award tickets may incur a fee if made within a week of departure.
Flight Flexibility Option
Purchasing Flight Flexibility at booking allows one itinerary change without a fee, provided it’s made more than a day before departure via the Frontier website or mobile app. Fare differences may apply, and the benefit cannot be used for splitting reservations or through agents.
How to Change a Flight
Passengers can modify their bookings through the following methods:
- Online: Access the “My Trips” or “Bookings” section on the Frontier website or mobile app, enter the booking reference and last name, select the flight, and follow prompts to change and pay any fees or fare differences.
- Customer Service: Contact Frontier’s call center for assistance, noting that a service charge may apply for agent-assisted changes.
- In-Person: Visit a Frontier ticket counter or airport agent, subject to availability and applicable fees.
- Travel Agency: If booked through a third party, contact the agency to process changes, which may involve additional fees.
Flight Disruptions
- In case of cancellations or significant schedule changes (e.g., delays exceeding a few hours for domestic flights or longer for international flights), passengers may change their flight without fees or fare differences to the same or an equivalent destination, or receive a refund.
- Involuntary changes, such as schedule adjustments, automatically update the boarding pass with new details.
Additional Notes
- Travel credits issued for changes or cancellations are valid for a year from the issue date, non-transferable, and have no residual value after use.
- Changes due to emergencies, such as serious illness or death of an immediate family member, may qualify for fee waivers with proper documentation.
- GoWild! Pass bookings have specific change restrictions, and Elite status benefits may apply to waive fees.
