Carry-On Baggage
  • Economy Class: 1 piece of carry-on baggage, max 7 kg (15 lbs), dimensions up to 55 x 25 x 35 cm (21.7 x 9.8 x 13.8 in), plus 1 personal item (e.g., handbag, laptop, small backpack) that fits under the seat.
  • Business Class: 2 pieces of carry-on baggage, max 12 kg (26 lbs) total, same dimensions as Economy.
  • Infants (under 2 years, not occupying a seat): 1 piece, max 12 kg, max 55 x 25 x 35 cm. Car seats for infants with a booked seat are allowed in addition to the normal allowance.
  • Additional Items: Free items include an overcoat, umbrella, walking stick, small camera, laptop, or reasonable reading material. 1 duty-free bag permitted.
  • Liquids, Aerosols, Gels (LAGs): Containers up to 100 ml in a 1-liter transparent, resealable plastic bag (total volume ≤ 1 liter).
  • Notes: All carry-on must have an "approved KQ cabin luggage" label. Strict enforcement at Nairobi (NBO) and other major hubs. Oversized/overweight carry-on may be checked into the hold for ~$60–$100 USD if within checked baggage limits; otherwise, excess fees apply.   • Infants (under 2 years): 1 collapsible stroller and 1 car seat free. No checked baggage allowance unless ticketed separately.
  • Pooling: Allowed for families or groups traveling together to the same destination on the same flight. Total number of bags can be pooled, but each bag must not exceed 23 kg (Economy) or 32 kg (Business).
  • Notes: Checked baggage must have a name label with passenger’s name, address, and phone number. Allowance may vary for codeshare/interline flights per IATA Resolution 302 (Most Significant Carrier rules).
Excess Baggage Fees (One-Way)

Special Baggage
  • Sports Equipment (e.g., bikes, golf clubs, skis): Counts toward allowance; otherwise, $110–$120 USD per item, max 300 cm. Must be pre-booked and packed appropriately.
  • Media/Entertainment Baggage: Audio, camera, lighting equipment, etc., max 25 bags (long-haul) or 5 bags (short-haul) per account. Overweight (23–32 kg) incurs standard fees. Requires corporate account or tour code.
  • Televisions: Max 55 inches, in original packaging, treated as standard baggage.

  • Liability: Max 1,288 Special Drawing Rights (~$1,800 USD) unless higher value declared. No liability for fragile, valuable, or perishable items. Travel insurance recommended.
  • Notes: Baggage delivered to local address if delayed (where permitted). Claims must be written within 7 days to nearest Kenya Airways office. Unsuitably packed baggage may reduce liability.
