Peach's brand development was conducted by CIA, Inc. and The Brand Architect Group, who engaged Neil Denari for aircraft livery design and James Wilkie for uniform design. The airline is based at Kansai International Airport. In July 2011, Peach received 1,909 applications for its first class of ninety flight attendants.

History and Evolution

Peach Aviation was established in February 2011 as A&F Aviation, a joint venture between All Nippon Airways (ANA), the First Eastern Investment Group (FEIG) of Hong Kong, and the Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ). The airline rebranded to Peach Aviation in May 2011, with its name inspired by the Japanese term “momo” (peach), symbolizing vitality and accessibility. Peach launched its first flight on March 1, 2012, from Osaka Kansai International Airport (KIX) to New Chitose Airport (CTS) in Sapporo, marking the beginning of its mission to make air travel affordable and accessible across Asia.

Peach quickly distinguished itself among Japan’s LCCs, achieving an 80% load factor in its first year compared to 70% for Jetstar Japan and 50–60% for AirAsia Japan. Its success was attributed to 24-hour operations, an exclusive terminal at Kansai Airport, and user-friendly reservations and check-in systems. In March 2018, ANA announced the integration of its other LCC subsidiary, Vanilla Air, into Peach, with Vanilla Air ceasing operations on October 26, 2019. This merger expanded Peach’s fleet and routes, positioning it as Japan’s leading LCC. By December 2024, ANA acquired the remaining 7% stake from FEIG, assuming full ownership of Peach, with ANA Holdings controlling 77.9% prior to the buyout.

Peach has embraced innovative branding, featuring special liveries in collaboration with Kadokawa’s Kantai Collection (2017), Toei Animation’s Soaring Sky! Pretty Cure (2023), and Japanese band Back Number (2023). The airline’s first Airbus A320 was named Peach Dream, and its tenth, Wing of Tohoku, was named through a contest involving Tohoku schoolchildren.

Fleet and Operations

As of December 2024, Peach operates a fleet of 37 Airbus A320-family aircraft, including A320-200s, A320neos, and two A321neo LRs leased from Air Lease Corporation, with deliveries between 2020 and 2022. The fleet’s average age is under 8 years, reflecting Peach’s commitment to safety and cost efficiency through newer, low-maintenance aircraft. The airline plans to operate over 50 aircraft by the end of fiscal year 2020, though this target was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Peach operates from three primary hubs: Kansai International Airport (KIX), Naha Airport (OKA), and Narita International Airport (NRT), with additional bases in Nagoya (NGO), Fukuoka (FUK), and Sendai (SDJ). The airline serves 39 routes, including 22 domestic destinations (e.g., Osaka to Sapporo, Tokyo to Fukuoka, Narita to Ishigaki) and 17 international destinations across East and Southeast Asia, such as Seoul (Incheon and Gimpo), Singapore, Taipei (Taoyuan), Hong Kong, and Bangkok. Recent route additions include Osaka–Singapore and Nagoya–Seoul (Gimpo), launched in 2025 to support tourism and business travel, particularly for Expo 2025 in Osaka.

Peach’s operations emphasize cost efficiency, such as parking aircraft without pushback tractors, using a single aircraft type (Airbus A320 family) to reduce maintenance costs, and operating from lower-cost terminals like Kansai’s Terminal 2.
