Qatar Airways offers a flexible flight change policy to accommodate passengers’ needs, with rules and fees varying by fare type, route, and timing. Below is an overview of the flight change policy based on available information.
Passengers who booked directly through the Qatar Airways website, mobile app, call center, or ticket office can modify bookings via the "Manage Booking" or "My Trips" section by entering their booking reference and last name. Changes include flight date, time, destination, or cabin class, subject to availability and fare rules.
For tickets purchased through travel agents or third-party platforms, passengers must contact the issuing agent to request changes, as direct modifications through Qatar Airways are not permitted.
Changes made within a day of booking are free if the flight is at least a week away. Beyond this period, fees apply based on fare type and route. Economy Lite fares are non-changeable, while other Economy, Business, and First Class fares may allow one free change, with subsequent changes incurring a fee, higher for outbound or inbound flights. Privilege Club Platinum and Gold members enjoy free changes for award tickets if made more than a day before departure; Silver and Burgundy members or their guests incur a fee for changes within this period, with higher fees closer to departure. Additional service charges apply for changes made via phone, ticket office, or airport. No-show fees apply if changes are not made before departure, with the higher of the change or no-show fee charged.
If the new flight is more expensive, passengers must pay the fare difference. If the new fare is lower, a credit may be issued, subject to fare rules, but refunds are not guaranteed.
Changes are permitted up to a few hours before departure, but earlier changes are recommended to avoid higher fees or complications. For award tickets, changes within a few hours of departure or after departure are treated as a no-show, forfeiting Avios and cash payments.
Passengers can change destinations to another within the same country or a nearby region, subject to availability and fare differences. Tickets can be exchanged for travel credit vouchers with additional value, valid for a couple of years from issuance.
Name changes are generally not permitted, but minor corrections may be allowed through the Contact Centre with verification and possible fees. Tickets are non-transferable to other passengers.
For medical emergencies or the death of a close relative, passengers can postpone flights without penalty by providing a valid medical or death certificate. In cases of airline-initiated changes, such as cancellations or significant delays, passengers can rebook on the next available Qatar Airways flight or another carrier within a short period without fees, or request a full refund. No-show charges are waived if the passenger misses a flight due to the airline’s fault.
