Qatar Airways has a strict policy on name changes, generally not allowing full name changes or ticket transfers to another person. However, minor name corrections are permitted under specific conditions to ensure the name matches the traveler's travel document.

- Name corrections are limited to three characters in total, including first name, last name, and spaces between letters.
- Corrections can address spelling mistakes, transposed names, omitted middle names, or changes from a nickname to a given name to match travel documents.
- Corrections exceeding three characters or changes due to legal reasons, such as marriage or divorce, require proof of identification, such as a marriage certificate or legal name change document.
- Full name changes or transferring ticket ownership to another person are not permitted. The existing reservation must be canceled, and a new one made based on current availability.
- Name corrections are not allowed for bookings made through Frequent Flyer Privilege Club profiles or for tickets involving certain codeshare or interline agreements.
- After a name correction, e-tickets must be reissued, and fare differences or change fees may apply, depending on the fare type and ticket conditions.
- Speculative bookings expecting later name changes are prohibited, as they may prevent genuine passengers from securing seats.
How to Make Name Corrections
Name corrections can be made through the following methods:
- Online: Visit the Qatar Airways website, access the Manage Booking section, enter the booking reference and passenger's last name, request the correction, upload necessary documents if required, and pay any applicable fees. A confirmation email will be sent upon completion.
- Customer Service: Contact Qatar Airways customer support, provide the booking reference and passenger details, request the correction, and submit required documents. Fees may apply, and a confirmation email will be sent.
- In-Person: Visit a Qatar Airways office, provide the booking reference and identification documents, and request the correction. Fees may apply, and a confirmation email will be sent.
Important Notes
- Name corrections must be completed before check-in, ideally as soon as the error is noticed, to avoid issues during travel.
- The name on the ticket must match the traveler's passport or government-issued ID exactly to avoid boarding complications.
- First and last names must not exceed fifty characters, including the title, and should only include alphabetical characters.
- Name corrections for travel agency bookings must be processed through the trade portal, and group bookings may have additional restrictions.
- Changes to Passenger Type Codes, date of birth, or adding an infant are treated as flight changes, not name corrections, and are not included in the three-character limit.
