Royal Jordanian Airlines Flight Change Policy

Royal Jordanian Airlines offers a flexible flight change policy to accommodate passengers' needs, with rules and fees varying by fare type, route, and timing. Below is an overview of the flight change policy based on available information.

Online Changes

Passengers who booked through the Royal Jordanian website or mobile app can modify bookings via the "Manage Booking" or "My Trips" section by entering their booking reference and last name. Changes include flight date, time, or seat selection, subject to availability and fare rules.

Third-Party Bookings

For tickets purchased through travel agents or third-party platforms, passengers must contact the issuing agent to request changes. If the agent is unavailable and travel is imminent, contacting a Royal Jordanian sales office or Contact Centre is an option, though additional fees may apply.

Fare Types and Change Rules

Royal Jordanian offers various fare types, including Economy (Saver, Standard, Flex) and Business (Basic, Flex), each with distinct change policies:

  • Economy Saver: Changes are not permitted, requiring cancellation and rebooking, which may incur fees.
  • Economy Standard and Business Basic: Changes are allowed but incur a fee per person, varying by route.
  • Economy Flex and Business Flex: One free change is allowed within a year from ticket issuance for Economy Flex, or within a few years for Business Flex and Royal Club tickets, with subsequent changes incurring a fee.
Change Fees

Changes made within a day of booking are free if the flight is at least a couple of days away. Beyond this period, fees apply for Economy Standard and Business Basic fares, with higher fees for changes made within a few days of departure or for specific routes. Economy Flex and Business Flex fares allow one free change, with additional changes incurring fees based on fare type and route. Changes made through the Contact Centre, sales offices, or airport counters incur additional service charges. No changes are allowed within a few hours of departure.

Fare Differences

If the new flight is more expensive, passengers must pay the fare difference in addition to any change fee. If the new fare is lower, a refund or credit may be issued for refundable tickets, subject to fare rules.

Time Limits

Changes must be made at least a few hours before the scheduled departure to avoid no-show penalties. Tickets are generally valid for one year from issuance for Economy Flex, or a few years for Business Flex and Royal Club tickets, with changes permitted within this period. Changes within a few days of departure incur higher fees.

Destination Changes

Destination changes are permitted for certain fare types, subject to availability, change fees, and fare differences. Changes must maintain the original ticketed class of service and are not allowed for Economy Saver fares.

Name Changes

Full name changes or ticket transfers to another person are not permitted. Minor spelling corrections are allowed through the Contact Centre or sales offices, with a possible fee, provided the request is made before check-in.

Special Circumstances

In cases of medical emergencies or the death of an immediate family member, Royal Jordanian may waive change fees upon submission of valid documentation, such as a medical or death certificate. If the airline cancels or significantly delays a flight, passengers can rebook on the next available flight without fees or request a full refund, as per the Conditions of Carriage. Notifications are sent via email or SMS if contact details are provided.

How to Change Your Flight

Passengers can modify bookings through the following methods:

  • Online: Access "Manage Booking" or "My Trips" on the Royal Jordanian website or app, enter booking details, select new flight options, and pay any applicable fees.
  • Offline: Contact the Royal Jordanian Contact Centre, visit a sales office, or seek assistance at an airport counter, noting additional service charges may apply.
Additional Notes
  • Passengers should review fare rules at booking, as conditions vary by fare type and route.
  • Royal Club loyalty program members may receive additional flexibility, such as priority rebooking or waived fees, depending on their status.
  • For codeshare or interline flights, changes must align with the operating carrier’s policies.
  • Flight Credits or vouchers issued for changes are valid for a couple of years from issuance and can be used by family members with consent.
