Ryanair Flight Change Policy

Ryanair offers a flexible flight change policy, allowing passengers to modify bookings under specific conditions, with rules and fees varying by fare type and timing. Below is an overview of the flight change policy based on available information.

Online Changes

Passengers who booked through the Ryanair website or mobile app can modify bookings via the "My Bookings" or "My Trips" section by logging into their myRyanair account and selecting the booking to change. Changes include flight date, time, or route, subject to availability and fare rules.

Third-Party Bookings

For tickets purchased through travel agents or third-party platforms, passengers must contact the issuing agent to request changes. Certain bookings, such as those with Spanish resident or large family subsidies, or multi-passenger bookings requiring partial changes, must be handled through the Ryanair Contact Centre.

Change Fees

Changes made within a day of booking are free if the flight is at least a day away, allowing corrections to dates, times, or route reversals without a fee, though fare differences apply. Beyond this period, a change fee is charged per person per flight segment, higher for changes made via the Contact Centre or airport compared to online changes. Flexi Plus fare holders can change flights on the day of travel to the same route for free, or to a different route without a change fee, subject to fare differences. Higher fees apply for certain routes, such as international Canary Islands or Greek routes.

Fare Differences

If the new flight is more expensive, passengers must pay the fare difference in addition to any change fee. No refund is provided if the new fare is lower.

Time Limits

Changes can be made up to a few hours before the scheduled departure of the original or new flight, whichever is earlier. For earlier flights, changes at the airport must be made at least an hour before the new flight’s departure, or slightly earlier via the Contact Centre. No changes are allowed after the flight has departed.

Destination Changes

Route changes are permitted within the same departure and destination countries, subject to availability, change fees, and fare differences. Domestic flights cannot be changed to international flights, or vice versa, due to VAT regulations. After taking the outbound flight, return flight route changes must be made via the Contact Centre or airport.

Name Changes

Name changes are allowed up to a few hours before departure, with a fee charged per passenger per segment. Minor corrections are free within a couple of days of booking. Fees are higher for changes made post-booking or at the airport.

Airline-Initiated Changes

If Ryanair cancels or reschedules a flight by more than a few hours, passengers can change to new times or dates on the same route for free, rebook to another route under comparable conditions, or request a refund. Compensation may be available unless the change is due to extraordinary circumstances like weather or air traffic control issues. Notifications are sent via email or SMS, with at least a few months’ notice when possible.

Flight Extras

Extras like bags or seats are transferred to the new flight when possible. If unavailable, a comparable alternative is provided, such as a check-in bag if Priority Boarding is not available. Additional products can be purchased for the new flight.

How to Change Your Flight

Passengers can modify bookings through the following methods:

  • Online: Access "My Bookings" on the Ryanair website or "My Trips" on the app, select "Manage this booking," choose "Change your flight," enter new flight details, and pay any applicable fees.
  • Offline: Contact the Ryanair Contact Centre, use online chat, or visit an airport ticket desk, noting additional service charges may apply.
Additional Notes
  • Passengers should verify changes via email confirmation or the "My Bookings" section, as payment errors may reinstate the original flight.
  • Checked-in passengers must contact Ryanair to uncheck before making changes.
  • Passengers can sell tickets to others via platforms like SpareFare, incurring a name change fee.
  • Fare rules should be reviewed at booking, as conditions vary by route and fare type.
