Saudia Airlines Baggage Policy
Below is the baggage policy for Saudia Airlines, covering carry-on and checked baggage allowances, fees, and restrictions for 2025. For the most up-to-date information. All baggage must comply with size and weight restrictions to avoid additional fees.
Carry-On Baggage
Each passenger is entitled to carry-on baggage, with allowances varying by class of travel.
- First Class and Business Class:
- 1 piece of carry-on baggage, max 9 kg (20 lbs).
- Dimensions: Up to 56 x 45 x 25 cm (22 x 18 x 10 in), including handles and wheels.
- 1 personal item (e.g., handbag, laptop bag, or briefcase).
- Economy Class (Guest):
- 1 piece of carry-on baggage, max 7 kg (15 lbs).
- Dimensions: Up to 56 x 45 x 25 cm (22 x 18 x 10 in), including handles and wheels.
- 1 personal item (e.g., handbag, laptop bag, or briefcase).
- Infants (Under 2 Years, No Seat):
- 1 piece of carry-on baggage, max 7 kg (15 lbs), dimensions up to 56 x 45 x 25 cm.
- Additional items: Collapsible stroller, car seat, or baby basket allowed free in the cabin if space permits.
- Baby food and essentials for the flight duration are permitted.
- Special Items:
- Medical equipment (e.g., portable oxygen concentrators, CPAP machines) must be carried as carry-on with prior approval.
- Small musical instruments within carry-on dimensions are allowed; larger ones may require an extra seat purchase.
Notes:
- Carry-on must fit in overhead bins or under the seat. Overhead bin space is limited on some aircraft.
- Liquids, gels, and aerosols in carry-on must follow the 100 ml rule (in a 1-liter transparent bag), except for baby food, milk, or medical liquids with documentation.
- Prohibited items include sharp objects, flammables, and lithium batteries over 160Wh. Check Saudia’s restricted items list on their website.
- Oversized or overweight carry-on will be checked at the gate for a fee.
Checked Baggage
Checked baggage allowances vary by class, route, and Alfursan (frequent flyer) status. No single bag may exceed 32 kg (70 lbs) or 158 cm (62 in) in total dimensions (length + width + height).

Additional Notes:
- Alfursan Members: Silver members get an extra 10 kg or 1 piece (23 kg); Gold/Platinum get an extra 15 kg or 1 piece (32 kg).
- Exceptions: Routes to/from USA, Canada, and Brazil follow the piece concept (as above). Other international routes may use weight concept (e.g., 40 kg for First, 30 kg for Business, 20 kg for Economy).
- Baggage must be checked in at least 60 minutes before international flights and 45 minutes before domestic flights.
- Firearms and ammunition are allowed with prior approval, securely packed, and limited to 5 kg of ammunition per passenger.
Excess Baggage Fees
Fees for excess baggage depend on the route, weight, or number of pieces and are lower if pre-purchased online at least 24 hours before departure.
- Piece Concept Routes (e.g., USA, Canada):
- Extra piece: $115–$200 per piece.
- Overweight (23–32 kg): $50–$100 per piece.
- Oversized (158–203 cm): $50–$100 per piece.
- Weight Concept Routes:
- Excess weight: $10–$20 per kg, depending on the zone (e.g., Middle East, Asia, Europe).
- Airport Fees: Higher than online rates, up to 50% more.
Note: Bags over 32 kg or 203 cm require prior approval and may incur special handling fees. Contact Saudia at least 48 hours in advance.
Special Items
- Sports Equipment:
- Items like skis, golf bags, bikes, or diving gear count toward checked baggage allowance. Free if within limits; otherwise, excess fees apply.
- Bicycles must be packed in a protective box; fees apply if over 23 kg or 158 cm.
- Prior notification is required for oversized equipment.
- Musical Instruments:
- Small instruments within carry-on limits (56 x 45 x 25 cm) are allowed in the cabin.
- Larger instruments can be checked in rigid cases or carried in the cabin with an extra seat purchase (booked as “CBBG”).
- Pets:
- In cabin: Small cats, dogs, or birds in a carrier (max 8 kg, 55 x 40 x 20 cm), fees $50–$150 depending on route.
- In cargo hold: Larger animals in IATA-approved crates, charged as excess baggage ($100–$300).
- Falcons are allowed in the cabin on specific routes with a dedicated seat purchase, max 2 per flight.
- Service animals travel free with prior approval.
- Mobility Equipment: Free for passengers with disabilities, no weight or size limit, with prior notification (48 hours).
Lost, Damaged, or Delayed Baggage
- Report issues at the airport’s Lost and Found desk to obtain a Property Irregularity Report (PIR).
- Submit claims online or via Saudia’s customer service with the PIR reference within Montreal Convention time limits (7 days for damaged baggage, 21 days for delayed).
- Compensation up to $1,800 per passenger for lost baggage, per international regulations.
