Scandinavian Airlines Baggage Policy

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) Baggage Policy

Below is the baggage policy for Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), covering carry-on and checked baggage allowances, fees, and restrictions for 2025. Allowances vary by ticket type, destination, and EuroBonus membership level. For the latest details check your booking in "My Trips." Always verify with SAS, as policies may differ for codeshare flights or specific routes.

Carry-On Baggage

Passengers are allowed one carry-on bag and one personal item, with stricter size limits effective January 2025. SAS enforces size and weight checks to ensure compliance.

  • All Classes (Except SAS Go Light):
    • 1 carry-on bag: Max 8 kg (17.6 lbs), dimensions up to 55 x 40 x 23 cm (22 x 16 x 9 in), including handles and wheels.
    • 1 personal item (e.g., handbag, laptop bag): Max 40 x 30 x 15 cm (16 x 12 x 6 in), must fit under the seat.
  • SAS Go Light (Within Europe/Turkey):
    • 1 personal item only: Max 40 x 30 x 15 cm (16 x 12 x 6 in), must fit under the seat.
    • Carry-on bag (55 x 40 x 23 cm, 8 kg) requires a fee (see below).
  • SAS Go Light (USA, Canada, Asia):
    • 1 carry-on bag: Max 8 kg (17.6 lbs), 55 x 40 x 23 cm.
    • 1 personal item: Max 40 x 30 x 15 cm.
  • SAS Plus/Business (USA, Canada, Asia):
    • 2 carry-on bags: Each max 8 kg (17.6 lbs), 55 x 40 x 23 cm.
    • 1 personal item: Max 40 x 30 x 15 cm.
  • Infants (Under 2 Years, No Seat):
    • No carry-on allowance, but a small bag with baby food/diapers is permitted (size not specified, typically fits under the seat).
    • Collapsible stroller or car seat allowed free, subject to space availability.

Notes:

  • Carry-on bags are checked for size/weight at check-in or gate. Non-compliant bags are placed in the hold with a fee (e.g., $50 USD at the gate).
  • Liquids/gels: Max 100 ml per container in a 1-liter resealable bag. Inorganic powders limited to 350 ml.
  • Prohibited items: Weapons, stunning devices, sharp objects, liquids over 100 ml, durians, and flammable substances. Check SAS’s restricted items list.
  • Small aircraft may require carry-on to be valet-checked at the gate (free, returned at aircraft door).
