Scoot Cancellation Policy

Scoot, a low-cost carrier based in Singapore, has a strict cancellation policy with limited refund options. Below is a concise overview based on the most reliable and up-to-date information available:

General Policy:
  • Scoot tickets are non-cancellable and non-refundable by default, regardless of fare type (e.g., promotional, Value, Flex), unless specific exceptions apply.
  • Cancellations initiated by passengers under normal circumstances result in forfeiture of the ticket fare, including ancillary fees, taxes, and surcharges, without refund or credit.
  • No 24-hour risk-free cancellation policy exists unless the booking is made in the United States and the departure is at least 7 days away, per the Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC) rules. In this case, cancellations within 24 hours of booking incur no fees.
Exceptions for Refunds
  • Flight Disruption by Scoot: If Scoot cancels a flight or reschedules it with a delay or retiming of 4 hours or more, passengers may be eligible for a full refund (itinerary value, less third-party services) or rebooking without additional cost. Refunds are processed without fees in these cases. Scoot notifies affected passengers via email or SMS with available options.
  • Death of Passenger or Immediate Family Member: Refunds may be granted for the death of the passenger or an immediate family member (spouse, child, sibling, parent, grandparent, or grandchild), subject to verification with documentation. Refunds may be issued as travel vouchers rather than cash.
  • Significant Schedule Change: In cases of major schedule changes or disruptions (subject to applicable laws), a refund may be issued with a reasonable admin fee, as outlined in Scoot’s Fees Chart.
Flexible Add-Ons:
  • Scoot offers a Flexibility add-on (e.g., “Cancel Your Trip”) for select destinations (excluding India and South Korea), allowing cancellations for any reason with a refund, typically as a travel voucher. This must be purchased at booking via Scoot’s website, app, or WeChat.
  • Without this add-on, cancellations are not permitted, but flight date/time changes or name changes are allowed up to 4 hours before departure for a fee (per Scoot’s Fees Chart) plus any fare difference. Changes cannot be made for interline bookings with partner airlines or for origin/destination.
EU Flights and Compensation:
  • For flights departing from EU airports (e.g., Athens to Berlin), EU Regulation 261/2004 applies. If Scoot cancels a flight with less than 14 days’ notice or delays arrival by 3+ hours (unless due to extraordinary circumstances like weather), passengers may claim compensation up to €600, in addition to a refund or rebooking. Proof (e.g., booking number, receipts) is required for claims.
No-Show Policy:
  • Passengers who fail to check-in or board without prior cancellation/change incur a no-show fee, deducted from the ticket fare, and the remaining value is forfeited. To avoid this, notify Scoot in advance.
  • If you miss an outbound flight, Scoot may cancel return flights in the same booking unless you confirm intent to travel within 48 hours of the outbound departure.
