Silver Airways Flight Change Policy

Important Notice: Silver Airways ceased operations on June 11, 2025, due to an unsuccessful restructuring effort in bankruptcy. As a result, no new bookings or changes can be made, and passengers are advised not to go to the airport. For refunds, contact your credit card company or travel agency where the ticket was purchased. The information below reflects the flight change policy prior to the cessation of operations, based on available information.

Online Changes

Passengers who booked directly through the Silver Airways website could modify bookings via the "Manage Travel" section by entering their confirmation code and last name. Changes included flight date, time, or seat selection, subject to availability and fare rules.

Third-Party Bookings

For tickets purchased through travel agents or third-party platforms, passengers were required to contact the issuing agent to request changes, as direct modifications through Silver Airways were not permitted.

Fare Types and Change Rules

Silver Airways offered three fare types: Escape, Freedom, and Refundable, each with distinct change policies:

  • Escape: Changes incurred a fee per person for domestic flights and a higher fee for international flights, plus fare differences.
  • Freedom: Changes were permitted without a fee if made at least a week before departure, though fare differences applied. Available only for direct bookings with Silver Airways.
  • Refundable: Changes were permitted without a fee, subject to fare differences.
Change Fees

Changes made within a day of booking were free if the flight was at least a day away. Beyond this period, Escape fares incurred a fee for domestic flights and a higher fee for international flights. Freedom and Refundable fares allowed changes without fees if made at least a week before departure. Additional service charges applied for changes made via the Guest Relations Call Center or airport counters. Changes had to be made more than a day before departure to avoid forfeiture of the ticket value. With Refund Protection, change fees were waived for non-refundable tickets if changes were made a week before departure, though fare differences applied.

Fare Differences

If the new flight was more expensive, passengers paid the fare difference in addition to any change fee. No refund was provided if the new fare was lower.

Time Limits

Changes had to be made more than a day before the scheduled departure to avoid forfeiture of the ticket value. Partial changes to multi-passenger bookings required contacting the Guest Relations Call Center.

Destination Changes

Destination changes were permitted for Freedom and Refundable fares, subject to availability, fare differences, and applicable change fees. Escape fares required cancellation and rebooking, subject to fees.

Name Changes

Full name changes or ticket transfers to another person were not permitted. Minor name corrections, such as spelling errors, were allowed for a fee if completed at least a couple of hours before departure, requiring valid government-issued ID and supporting documentation like a marriage certificate.

Airline-Initiated Changes

If Silver Airways canceled or significantly delayed a flight, passengers could rebook on the next available flight without fees or request a refund to the original form of payment. Compensation was available for delays of a few hours or more, or cancellations less than a couple of weeks before departure, unless due to extraordinary circumstances.

How to Change Your Flight

Before operations ceased, passengers could modify bookings through the following methods:

  • Online: Access "Manage Travel" on the Silver Airways website, enter booking details, select new flight options, and pay any applicable fees.
  • Offline: Contact the Guest Relations Call Center or visit an airport ticket counter, noting additional service charges could apply.
Additional Notes
  • Passengers were advised to review fare rules at booking, as conditions varied by fare type and route.
  • Refund Protection, offered during booking, waived change fees for non-refundable tickets if changes were made a week before departure, but was non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • For codeshare flights with partners like JetBlue or United, changes had to align with the operating carrier’s policies.
  • Passengers were recommended to arrive early at the airport due to operational challenges and baggage limitations, especially in the San Juan network.
