Singapore Airlines Flight Change Policy

Singapore Airlines offers a flexible flight change policy to accommodate passengers’ needs, with rules and fees varying by fare type, route, and timing. Below is an overview of the flight change policy based on available information.

Online Changes

Passengers who booked through the Singapore Airlines website, mobile app, or reservations hotline can modify bookings via the "Manage Booking" or "My Trips" section by entering their booking reference and last name. Changes include flight date, time, or seat selection, subject to availability and fare rules. Changes to flights redeemed or upgraded with KrisFlyer miles require submitting a request through the Assistance Request Form.

Third-Party Bookings

For tickets purchased through travel agents or third-party platforms, passengers must contact the issuing agent to request changes, as direct modifications through Singapore Airlines are not permitted.

Fare Types and Change Rules

Singapore Airlines offers various fare types, including Economy Lite, Economy Value, Economy Standard, Economy Flex, Premium Economy, Business, and First Class, each with distinct change policies:

  • Economy Lite: Changes are not permitted.
  • Economy Value and Standard: Changes incur a fee per person per segment, varying by route.
  • Economy Flex, Premium Economy, Business, and First Class: One free change is allowed, with subsequent changes incurring a fee. For verified students, one change is complimentary.
  • KrisFlyer Award Tickets: Changes to date or flight number incur a fee, with no fee for PPS Club members if changed before departure. No changes to route, cabin class, or award type are allowed for partially used tickets.
Change Fees

Changes made within a day of booking are free for flights to or from the USA if booked at least a week before departure. Beyond this period, fees apply for Economy Value, Standard, and KrisFlyer award tickets, varying by fare class and route. Fees are higher for changes made via the Contact Centre, airport counters, or offline services, unless the transaction cannot be performed online, in which case fees are waived for all passengers, including PPS Club members. No-show fees apply in addition to change fees if changes are not made before departure. Fare differences may apply if the new flight is more expensive.

Fare Differences

If the new flight is more expensive, passengers must pay the fare difference. If the new fare is lower, a refund may be issued for refundable tickets, subject to fare rules. For KrisFlyer award tickets, a top-up of miles may be required for certain changes.

Time Limits

Changes can be made up to a few hours before the scheduled departure, with a minimum of ten minutes prior for online changes. Tickets are valid for one year from the issuance date, and changes must be made within this period. Last-minute changes or changes after departure may incur higher fees or be subject to no-show penalties.

Destination Changes

Destination changes are permitted for certain fare types but require contacting Singapore Airlines directly, as they cannot be processed online. Changes are subject to availability, fare differences, and applicable fees. For KrisFlyer award tickets, destination changes are not allowed for partially used tickets.

Name Changes

Full name changes or ticket transfers to another person are not permitted. Minor spelling corrections are allowed through the Contact Centre, with a possible fee, provided the request is made before check-in.

Special Circumstances

In cases of medical emergencies or the death of an immediate family member, change fees may be waived with valid documentation, such as a medical or death certificate, submitted before departure. If Singapore Airlines cancels or significantly delays a flight, passengers can rebook on the next available flight without fees or request a full refund. Notifications are sent via email, SMS, WhatsApp, or Facebook Messenger within a short time of the airline learning of the disruption.

How to Change Your Flight

Passengers can modify bookings through the following methods:

  • Online: Access "Manage Booking" or "My Trips" on the Singapore Airlines website or app, enter booking details, select new flight options, and pay any applicable fees.
  • Offline: Contact the Singapore Airlines Contact Centre, visit a ticket office, or seek assistance at an airport counter or lounge, noting additional service charges may apply.
  • Assistance Request Form: For KrisFlyer award tickets or complex changes, submit a request via the Assistance Request Form.
Additional Notes
  • Passengers should review fare rules at booking, as conditions vary by fare type and route.
  • KrisFlyer or PPS Club members may enjoy reduced or waived fees and additional baggage benefits, with discounts for companions under the same booking.
  • For codeshare or interline flights, changes must align with the operating carrier’s policies.
  • Travel insurance may cover change fees in certain circumstances, such as medical emergencies.
