- A foldable garment bag (max. 57 x 54 x 15 cm) can be accepted as hand baggage.
- Infants on an adult’s lap have no hand baggage allowance.
- Flights from the USA or Italy allow only 1 hand baggage item for all classes, plus a personal item.
- Liquids must be in containers of 100 ml or less, placed in a single, resealable 1-liter transparent plastic bag (one per passenger).

- Infants in all fare classes are entitled to a foldable pushchair or travel pram.
- Infants in Classic/Flex fares can check one bag up to 23 kg.
- Excess baggage fees apply for items exceeding 158 cm or 23 kg (24–32 kg for Economy). Bags over 32 kg or 292 cm are not accepted and must be shipped as freight.
Special Baggage
Sports Equipment
Sports equipment can be transported free if within your checked baggage allowance (except Economy Light fare).
- Ski equipment is free (except Economy Light).
- Other sports equipment may incur fees if exceeding allowance.
Musical Instruments
Small instruments can be carried as hand baggage if within size/weight limits. Larger instruments require an additional seat or must be checked in a hard case.
- Contact the SWISS Service Centre for instruments exceeding 55 x 40 x 23 cm or 8 kg.
Pets
Dogs and cats can be carried in the cabin if the combined weight with the carrier is up to 8 kg. Larger pets travel in the hold. Pre-booking is required.
Excess Baggage Fees
Fees vary by route and class. Prepay online for lower rates.
- Example: Economy Light (Europe to USA/Canada) – second bag fee ~USD 85–100.
- Overweight (24–32 kg) or oversized (158–292 cm) bags incur additional charges.
Prohibited Items
Certain items are restricted or prohibited in hand or checked baggage due to safety concerns.
- Electronic devices and batteries are considered dangerous goods.
- Liquids in checked baggage are generally allowed, but specific restrictions apply to certain liquids and spray cans.
Additional Notes
- On codeshare or interline flights, the baggage rules of the operating airline or the airline marketing the longest route may apply.
- For flights to/from the USA, the first carrier’s rules apply under U.S. consumer protection law.
