- Personal items include handbags, laptop bags, or duty-free bags with up to 2 bottles of alcohol.
- Passengers with babies can carry a baby trolley in the cabin (replacing carry-on) if within 55 x 40 x 25 cm.
- Liquids in carry-on must be in containers of 100 ml or less, in a 1-liter transparent, resealable plastic bag.
- If carry-on exceeds limits at the gate, fees apply: €70–€195 (Europe), €90–€195 (intercontinental), payable by credit/debit card only.
- On high-occupancy flights, carry-on may be placed in the hold free of charge if space is limited.

- Bags over 32 kg or 158 cm are transported as cargo.
- TAP Miles&Go Gold, Star Alliance Gold, or TAP Platinum Cardholders: 1 extra bag (23 kg in Economy, 32 kg in Business).
- Children (2–11 years) have the same allowance as adults.
- Passengers with connecting flights in Brazil, USA, or Canada must collect and recheck baggage for customs.

Special Baggage
Sports Equipment
Sports equipment (e.g., golf, ski, surf, diving gear) can be included in the free allowance if within weight/size limits, or incur fees.
- Fees: $100–$200 per item, per way, depending on route and equipment type.
- Contact TAP in advance to confirm handling and fees.
Musical Instruments
Small instruments can be carried as cabin baggage if within limits. Larger instruments may require an extra seat (up to 75 kg) or be checked (up to 45 kg).
- Checked instrument fees: $185–$350 per way, depending on route.
- Hard cases are recommended for checked instruments.
Pets
Pets can travel in the cabin (up to 8 kg with carrier) or as checked baggage, subject to fees and regulations.
- Cabin: €35–€150 per way; Checked: €100–€300 per way.
- Requires prior approval and appropriate documentation.
Prohibited Items
Certain items are restricted or prohibited for safety reasons.
- Carry-on: Liquids over 100 ml, sharp objects (e.g., knives, scissors), alcohol-based sanitizers on aircraft surfaces.
- Checked: Loose lithium batteries, items interfering with aircraft equipment.
- Food/animal products to Brazil or other countries may have strict import rules.
Lost, Damaged, or Delayed Baggage
TAP provides a Lost & Found service for baggage issues.
- Delayed: File an online form within 24 hours of arrival (except Brazil, Italy, UK). Most bags are returned within 48 hours.
- Damaged: Report at the airport’s Lost & Found desk before leaving.
- Lost: Submit a claim within 7 days. Compensation follows Montreal/Warsaw Conventions (up to 1,288 SDR).
Additional Notes
- Mobility aids (e.g., wheelchairs, crutches) are transported free, up to two per passenger.
- Check-in: Online 24–2 hours before departure; airport check-in closes 90 minutes before for Business/online check-in passengers.
- Baggage fees are cheaper when prepaid online via “Manage Your Booking.”
- Pack valuables, medications, and essentials in carry-on to avoid issues with checked baggage.
