Note: The following reflects Thai Airways' baggage policy as of the latest available information. Policies may vary by route, fare type, or codeshare agreements.

Thai Airways allows one carry-on bag and one personal item free of charge for all passengers, subject to size and weight restrictions.

  • Additional items like canes, crutches, or one duty-free bag are permitted free of charge.
  • Liquids, aerosols, and gels in carry-on must be in containers of 100 ml or less, placed in a 1-liter transparent, resealable plastic bag.
  • Smart baggage with non-removable lithium batteries is not accepted as checked baggage and must be carried in the cabin with batteries removed.
  • Enforcement of weight limits (especially the 1.5 kg personal item limit) may vary, but checks are reported at some airports (e.g., Australia-bound flights).

  • Extra Seat: Booked for instruments up to 75 kg, with advance approval.

Pets are not allowed in the cabin but can be transported as checked baggage in the hold with advance approval.

Prohibited Items

Certain items are restricted or prohibited for safety and regulatory reasons.

  • Carry-on: Liquids over 100 ml, sharp objects, flammable materials.
  • Checked: Loose lithium batteries, hazardous materials (HAZMAT).
  • Smart baggage with non-removable batteries is not accepted.
Lost, Damaged, or Delayed Baggage

  • Damaged: Report within 7 days at the airport with the bag for inspection.
  • Lost: File a claim within 7 days for lost baggage or 21 days for delayed baggage expenses. Compensation up to 1,288 SDR.
Additional Notes
  • Check-in: Online 24–2 hours before departure; airport check-in closes 60 minutes (international) or 45 minutes (domestic) before departure. Self-service bag drop is available at select airports.
  • Baggage tracking is available via check-in counters or self-bag-drop kiosks, but accuracy is not guaranteed.
  • Infant bassinets (up to 10 kg, 67 cm, under 6 months) can be booked with a seat fee; diaper changing facilities are limited on some aircraft.
  • Codeshare or interline flights may follow partner airline rules, especially for USA/Canada routes. Check with the marketing carrier.
  • Social media reports suggest lax enforcement of carry-on limits on some routes, but strict checks occur at certain airports (e.g., Australia).
