Note: The following reflects TUIfly's baggage policy as of the latest available information, effective November 1, 2023, for TUIfly Germany and other TUIfly brands (e.g., TUIfly Belgium, Netherlands, Nordic). Policies may vary by route, fare type, or codeshare agreements.

Carry-On Baggage Allowance

Each passenger (2 years and older) is allowed one piece of carry-on luggage and one personal item, with stricter rules for the cheapest fare (Pure fare) effective November 1, 2023.

  • Infants (under 2 years) have no carry-on allowance but can bring essentials (e.g., diaper bag) within the adult’s limit.
  • Additional items like coats, umbrellas, canes, or duty-free bags are permitted free of charge and do not count toward the allowance.
  • Liquids in carry-on must be in containers of 100 ml or less, packed in a 1-liter transparent, resealable plastic bag (max 1 liter per passenger). Exceptions include medicines, baby food, and dietary food needed during the flight.
  • Carry-on exceeding size/weight limits may be placed in the hold free of charge if space is limited, or refused with an additional fee for hold transport.
  • Loose lithium batteries (e.g., power banks) must be in carry-on, not checked baggage, and cannot be recharged or used on board.
  • Bulkhead seats lack under-seat storage during takeoff and landing.
Checked Baggage Allowance

No checked baggage is included in the ticket price except for infants (10 kg, under 2 years) and specific fare types (e.g., Perfect fare, TUI Gold Card holders). Allowances vary by fare and route.

  • Passengers traveling together (same booking) can pool their checked baggage allowance, but each piece must not exceed 32 kg.

Special Baggage
Sports Equipment

Sports equipment requires advance booking and incurs a fee unless within the free baggage allowance.

  • Checked: Subject to standard or excess baggage fees; hard cases recommended.

Pets

Dogs and cats may be transported on some flights with advance approval.

  • Advance notification is required at least 2 months before departure.
Prohibited Items

Certain items are restricted or prohibited for safety and regulatory reasons.

  • Carry-on: Liquids over 100 ml, knives, scissors, blunt objects (e.g., golf clubs, baseball bats), lighters, matches.
  • Checked: Loose lithium batteries, hazardous materials, cooking oil (over ½ liter), fragile/perishable items.
  • Hoverboards, Segways, and similar lithium battery-powered vehicles are prohibited in both carry-on and checked baggage.
Lost, Damaged, or Delayed Baggage

TUIfly follows the Montreal Convention for baggage issues.

  • Delayed: Report at the airport’s Lost and Found desk before leaving and file a Property Irregularity Report (PIR). Claims for expenses within 21 days.
  • Damaged: Report within 7 days at the airport with a Damage Baggage Report. No liability for minor damage (e.g., scratches).
  • Lost: File a claim within 7 days; compensation up to 1,288 SDR.
  • Baggage insurance is available at the TUI desk to cover loss or damage beyond standard compensation.
Additional Notes
  • Check-in: Online check-in is available 30 hours to 5 hours before departure. Airport check-in closes 45 minutes (domestic) or 60 minutes (international) before departure.
  • Wheelchairs and assistive devices are transported free but require advance notification.
