Important Notice: Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) has suspended all flight operations since February 2022 due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the closure of Ukrainian airspace for civilian flights. The information below reflects UIA’s flight change policy prior to the suspension, based on available information. Passengers with existing bookings should monitor official UIA communications for updates on flight resumption or contact customer service for assistance.
Passengers who booked through the UIA website or FlyUIA mobile app could modify bookings via the "Manage My Booking" section by entering their reservation code or ticket number and last name. Changes included flight date, time, or route, and were available up to several hours before departure, subject to availability and fare rules. Online changes were not available for tickets issued by partner airlines or for bookings with special services like pet transport or unaccompanied minors.
For tickets purchased through travel agents or third-party platforms, passengers were required to contact the issuing agent to request changes, as direct modifications through UIA were not permitted. Additional handling fees could apply when processed through agents, and changes were subject to the agent’s and UIA’s fare rules.
UIA offered fare types such as Economy Lite, Economy Standard, Economy Premium, and Business, each with distinct change policies:
Changes made within a day of booking were free if the flight was at least a few days away. Beyond this period, fees applied per person per segment, varying by fare type and route, with higher fees for international flights compared to domestic routes. Changes made via ticket offices, partner offices, or the Contact Centre incurred an additional service fee compared to online changes. No-show fees applied if changes were not made before departure. For tickets affected by flight cancellations due to the conflict, UIA allowed rebooking without fees to new dates after stabilization, with promo codes issued before a certain date extended for additional validity.
If the new flight was more expensive, passengers paid the fare difference in addition to any change fee. No refund was provided if the new fare was lower, unless specified by fare rules. For award tickets, additional miles could be required for changes.
Changes were permitted up to several hours before departure, with online changes closing earlier. Tickets were valid for one year from issuance, and changes had to occur within this period. No changes were allowed for partially used tickets or after departure. For canceled flights, passengers could rebook to new dates within the ticket’s validity or opt for a promo code valid for a couple of years from issuance.
Route changes were allowed for tickets issued on UIA forms, subject to availability, a change fee, and fare differences, provided the request was made at least several hours before departure. Economy Lite and promotional fares often did not permit route changes. Changes were not allowed for partially used tickets or award tickets after travel began.
Full name changes or ticket transfers to another person were not permitted. Minor spelling corrections were allowed with a fee, provided the request was made before check-in via the Contact Centre or ticket office, and the name had to match the passenger’s passport or ID.
For flights canceled by UIA, such as those impacted by the conflict since February 2022, passengers could rebook on future flights to the same destination without fees once operations resume, subject to availability. Alternatively, passengers could request a refund of the ticket cost, though refund timelines were not guaranteed due to operational constraints. Promo codes issued for canceled flights were extended for additional validity. EU regulations could entitle passengers to compensation for cancellations with less than a couple of weeks’ notice, unless due to extraordinary circumstances like war or airspace closures.
Before the suspension of operations, passengers could modify bookings through the following methods:
