Volotea Flight Change Policy

Volotea, a Spanish low-cost airline, offers a flight change policy that allows passengers to modify bookings under specific conditions, with rules and fees varying by fare type and timing. Below is an overview of the flight change policy based on available information.

Online Changes

Passengers who booked through the Volotea website or mobile app can modify bookings via the "Your Booking" section by entering their booking confirmation number and contact email address. Changes include flight date, time, or destination, and can be made up to a week before departure without the Flex plan, or up to four hours before departure with the Flex plan. Online changes are not available for tickets issued by partner airlines or after online check-in has been completed.

Third-Party Bookings

For tickets purchased through travel agents or third-party platforms, passengers must contact the issuing agent to request changes, as direct modifications through Volotea are not permitted. Additional handling fees may apply when processed through agents.

Fare Types and Change Rules

Volotea offers a single Economy class with optional add-ons like the Flex plan, which affects change policies:

  • Standard Fare (Without Flex): Changes to date, time, or destination are allowed up to a week before departure, subject to a fee per person per segment, plus any fare difference.
  • Flex Plan: Allows unlimited changes to date, time, or destination up to four hours before departure without a change fee, but fare differences apply. The Flex plan must be purchased at booking.
  • Megavolotea and Megavolotea Plus: These loyalty program subscriptions allow unlimited date and time changes up to a week before departure without a change fee, but fare differences apply. Route changes are not included.
Change Fees

Changes made within a day of booking are free if the flight is at least a week away. For standard fares without the Flex plan, changes incur a fee per person per segment, with higher fees for changes made via the Customer Service Centre or airport reservation counter compared to online changes. With the Flex plan or Megavolotea subscriptions, no change fees apply, but fare differences are required if the new flight is more expensive. Changes after check-in or within a few hours of departure (without Flex) are not permitted.

Fare Differences

If the new flight is more expensive, passengers must pay the fare difference in addition to any change fee for standard fares. No refund is provided if the new fare is lower, unless specified by fare rules. The Flex plan and Megavolotea subscriptions do not waive fare differences.

Time Limits

Changes are permitted up to a week before departure for standard fares, or up to four hours before departure with the Flex plan. Tickets are valid for one year from issuance, and changes must occur within this period. No changes are allowed for partially used tickets (e.g., after the outbound flight) or after departure.

Destination Changes

Route changes are allowed for standard fares up to a week before departure, or up to four hours with the Flex plan, subject to availability, a change fee (if applicable), and fare differences. Changes must be processed through the Customer Service Centre for partially used tickets or after check-in. Route changes are not permitted for Megavolotea subscriptions, which are limited to date and time changes.

Name Changes

Name changes are permitted up to four hours before departure, provided the passenger has not checked in, and incur a fee per person per segment, plus any fare difference. After check-in or for partially used tickets, name changes must be processed through the Customer Service Centre. Minor name corrections can be made via the Customer Service Centre with a fee. Name changes are not allowed for flights operated by partner airlines.

Airline-Initiated Changes

If Volotea cancels or significantly delays a flight by more than a couple of hours, passengers can rebook on another flight without fees or request a full refund, including for non-refundable tickets. If the alternative flight is unsuitable, passengers can request other changes or a refund in Volotea credit (with the Flex plan). EU Regulation EC 261 may entitle passengers to compensation for cancellations with less than a couple of weeks’ notice, unless due to extraordinary circumstances like weather or air traffic control issues. Notifications are sent via email or social media if contact details are provided.

How to Change Your Flight

Passengers can modify bookings through the following methods:

  • Online: Access "Your Booking" on the Volotea website or app, enter booking confirmation number and email, select new flight options, and pay any applicable fees.
  • Offline: Contact the Volotea Customer Service Centre by phone or social media, or visit an airport counter, noting higher fees may apply.
  • Third-Party: For bookings via agents, contact the agent directly to process changes.
Additional Notes
  • Passengers should review fare rules at booking, as conditions vary by fare type. The Flex plan and Megavolotea subscriptions offer greater flexibility but must be purchased at booking.
  • For codeshare flights with partners like Eurowings, changes must align with the operating carrier’s policies.
  • Passengers are responsible for ensuring correct contact details to receive notifications about schedule changes or disruptions.
  • After changes, passengers must download and reprint boarding passes.
