Volotea Missed Flight Policy

Overview

Volotea’s missed flight policy is strict, as the airline operates as a low-cost carrier with limited flexibility for missed flights. Options depend on the fare type and whether the Flex plan was purchased. Passengers should review fare rules at booking to understand restrictions.

No-Show Policy

Failing to check in or board a flight without notifying Volotea at least four hours before departure is considered a no-show. For most fares, such as Basic Economy, the ticket becomes non-refundable and cannot be changed after the scheduled travel date, resulting in the loss of its value. Onward or return flights may be cancelled. Contact Volotea’s Customer Service Centre immediately to explore options.

Non-Refundable Tickets

For non-refundable tickets, missing a flight typically means the ticket is marked as used for that segment, with no refund or rebooking without additional costs. Refunds are only issued in cases of force majeure, such as the death of the passenger, with valid documentation. Taxes for unused segments may be refundable in some cases. Contact Volotea to confirm eligibility for exceptions.

Flexible Tickets with Flex Plan

Passengers with the Flex plan can make unlimited changes to their booking up to four hours before departure without additional fees, including rebooking to another flight, subject to availability. The Flex plan also allows cancellation with a refund in Volotea credit, which can be used for future bookings. The Flex plan must be purchased at booking, not afterward. Rebooking or cancellations can be managed through the Volotea website, app, or Customer Service Centre.

Rebooking and Fees

Without the Flex plan, rebooking after missing a flight is generally not permitted for non-refundable fares. If changes are allowed, fees apply based on fare type, route, and fare differences. Name changes are possible up to four hours before departure for a fee, provided check-in has not been completed; post-check-in changes require contacting the Customer Service Centre. Passengers may transfer their ticket to another person via name change to avoid losing the ticket’s value.

Missed Connections

Volotea treats each flight as a separate contract, so the airline is not responsible for missed connections due to passenger delays. If a missed connection is caused by a Volotea delay or cancellation, the airline will rebook you on the next available flight at no extra charge or offer a refund if you choose not to travel. Compensation up to six hundred euros may be available under EU Regulation 261/2004 if the delay exceeds three hours and is within Volotea’s control.

Contacting Volotea

If you miss your flight, contact Volotea’s Customer Service Centre immediately via phone, the website, or social media. Use the Manage Your Booking feature on the Volotea website or app to explore options. For bookings made through a travel agent, contact the agent directly. Keep your booking confirmation and travel documents ready to expedite assistance.

Recommendations

Arrive at the airport two hours before departure to complete check-in and boarding. Online check-in is available from four days to two and a half hours before departure, and boarding gates close thirty-five to forty minutes prior, depending on the airport. Notify Volotea as soon as possible if you anticipate missing a flight to explore rebooking or credit options, especially with the Flex plan. Travel insurance is recommended to cover unforeseen circumstances.
