Vueling Airlines Flight Change Policy

Vueling Airlines, a Spanish low-cost carrier, offers a flexible flight change policy, with rules and fees varying by fare type and timing. Below is an overview of the flight change policy based on available information.

Online Changes

Passengers who booked through the Vueling website or mobile app can modify bookings via the "My Trips" or "Manage Your Booking" section by entering their booking confirmation number and email address. Changes include flight date or time and can be made up to a couple of hours before departure, affecting all passengers in the booking. Online changes are not available for flights operated by partner airlines or after online check-in has been completed. Changes to additional services like baggage or seat selection remain intact unless rebooked separately.

Third-Party Bookings

For tickets purchased through travel agents or third-party platforms, passengers must contact the issuing agent to request changes, as direct modifications through Vueling are not permitted. Additional handling fees may apply when processed through agents.

Fare Types and Change Rules

Vueling offers fare bundles such as Fly Light, Fly, Fly Grande, and TimeFlex, each with distinct change policies:

  • Fly Light and Fly: Changes incur a fee per person per segment, plus any fare difference.
  • Fly Grande and TimeFlex: Unlimited changes to date or time without a change fee, but fare differences apply.
  • Flex Pack: An optional add-on for Fly Light or Fly bundles, allowing one change without a fee, plus fare differences. Must be purchased at booking.
  • Basic, Optima, Family (for bookings before a specific date): Changes incur a fee, except for Optima and Family fares, which may offer more flexibility.

Changes to origin or destination are not permitted for any fare type.

Change Fees

Changes made within a day of booking are free if the flight is at least a week away, per U.S. Department of Transportation rules for flights involving the USA. Beyond this period, Fly Light and Fly fares incur a fee per person per segment, with higher fees if less than a couple of weeks remain until departure. Fly Grande and TimeFlex fares allow unlimited changes without fees, and the Flex Pack waives the fee for one change. Changes made via the Customer Services Centre or airport ticket offices incur an additional administration fee per booking or per passenger each way. No-show passengers forfeit the ticket unless the Flex Pack or Fly Grande/TimeFlex fare is held, allowing cancellation for Flight Credit. In exceptional circumstances like serious illness or court summons, changes may be made without fees, subject to documentation submitted within a month of travel.

Fare Differences

If the new flight is more expensive, passengers must pay the fare difference for all fare types. No refund is provided if the new fare is lower, unless specified by fare rules. For multi-city journeys within Spain, changes may be free, but fare differences apply.

Time Limits

Changes are permitted up to a couple of hours before departure for Vueling-operated flights, or one hour at airport ticket offices. Tickets are valid for one year from issuance, and changes must occur within this period. No changes are allowed for partially used tickets or after departure. Same-day changes to an earlier or later flight are free for TimeFlex fare holders or Premium customers, subject to availability, but incur a fee for other fares.

Destination Changes

Changes to origin or destination are not permitted under Vueling’s policy. Passengers must cancel and rebook, potentially using Flight Credit if eligible under Fly Grande, TimeFlex, or Flex Pack conditions.

Name Changes

Name changes to transfer a ticket to another person are permitted up to a couple of hours before departure, subject to a fee per person each way, plus any fare difference. Fees are waived within a day of booking. Minor spelling corrections require contacting the Customer Services Centre and may incur a fee. For flights operated by partner airlines, name changes must be processed through the Customer Services Centre. The name must match the passenger’s ID.

Airline-Initiated Changes

If Vueling cancels or significantly delays a flight by more than a couple of hours, passengers can rebook on another Vueling flight without fees, subject to availability, or request a refund, including for non-refundable tickets. Flight Credit valid for over a year may be issued for cancellations under Fly Grande, TimeFlex, or Flex Pack. EU Regulation EC 261 may entitle passengers to compensation for cancellations with less than a couple of weeks’ notice, unless due to extraordinary circumstances like weather. Notifications are sent via email or social media if contact details are provided. For overbooked flights, Vueling may offer incentives like discount vouchers to change voluntarily, with no risk of being bumped if online check-in is completed with a seat assignment.

How to Change Your Flight

Passengers can modify bookings through the following methods:

  • Online: Access "My Trips" or "Manage Your Booking" on the Vueling website or app, enter booking details, select new flight options, and pay any applicable fees.
  • Offline: Contact the Vueling Customer Services Centre, visit an airport ticket office, or use social media support, noting higher fees may apply.
  • Third-Party: For bookings via agents, contact the agent directly to process changes.
Additional Notes
  • Passengers should review fare rules at booking, as conditions vary by fare type. Fly Grande, TimeFlex, and Flex Pack offer the most flexibility, while Fly Light is restrictive.
  • Punto program members or Premium customers may benefit from free same-day changes or priority rebooking.
  • For codeshare flights with partners like Iberia, changes must align with the operating carrier’s policies.
