Vueling Airlines Name Change Policy

Overview

Vueling Airlines, a Spanish low-cost carrier, allows minor name corrections and full name changes to transfer tickets to another person for most fare types, except for flights operated by partner airlines. The policy ensures the name on the ticket matches the traveler’s passport or government-issued ID for security and compliance purposes. Name changes are subject to fees, except for specific corrections made within a short period after booking or with the Excellence fare, and must be requested before departure.

Key Policy Details
  • Minor name corrections, such as fixing spelling mistakes, translating first names (e.g., Jordi to Jorge), reversing surname/name order, adding a second surname, changing or including a middle name, or adding a compound name, are permitted free of charge if requested within a short period after booking, typically a day, via the Customer Services Centre. These corrections must align with the traveler’s passport or ID.
  • Full name changes to transfer a ticket to another person are allowed for Vueling-operated flights up to two hours before departure, provided no flights in the booking have been taken. A fee is charged per passenger per one-way flight, plus any fare difference if the new ticket is more expensive. No refunds are issued if the new fare is lower.
  • Legal name changes, such as those due to marriage, divorce, or gender identity change, are permitted with supporting documents like a marriage certificate, divorce decree, or court order. These are typically free if within the initial grace period, otherwise a fee applies.
  • Name changes are only permitted for Vueling-operated flights (ticket numbers starting with V7) and not for codeshare flights or flights operated by other airlines, unless specified in the booking agreement.
  • Bookings made through travel agents or third-party platforms must have name changes processed through the original booking provider, not directly with Vueling.
  • The name on the boarding pass must exactly match the traveler’s passport or ID, using Latin characters without special symbols, to avoid boarding issues, especially for international flights to destinations like Barcelona, Paris, or Rome.
  • Name changes or corrections must be requested at least two hours before departure and are not permitted after check-in, once any flight in the booking has been taken, or for certain promotional fares.
  • The Excellence fare allows name changes free of charge at any time, while the Flex Pack service does not waive name change fees but offers flexibility for flight date or time changes.
  • If travel insurance was purchased, such as with XCover, passengers must update the name on the insurance policy separately after making changes with Vueling.
How to Make Name Changes or Corrections

Name changes or corrections can be made through the following methods:

  • Online: Visit the Vueling website, access the My Trips or Manage Booking section, enter the booking reference and last name or email, select the option to change passenger details, enter the new details, upload required documents if needed, and pay any applicable fees. A confirmation email with the updated ticket will be sent, and passengers must re-download boarding passes.
  • Customer Service: Contact Vueling’s Customer Services Centre via phone or social media, provide the booking reference and passenger details, request the correction or name change, and submit necessary documents, such as a passport or marriage certificate. Fees may apply, and a confirmation email will be sent upon completion.
  • In-Person: Visit a Vueling ticket office or airport counter at least two hours before departure, provide the booking reference and identification documents, and request the correction or name change. Higher fees apply compared to online or call center requests, and a confirmation email will be sent.
  • Travel Agency: For bookings made through a travel agency, contact the agency directly to request the correction or name change, provide required documents, and pay any applicable fees. The agency will coordinate with Vueling.
Important Notes
  • Name changes or corrections must be requested at least two hours before departure, ideally as soon as the error is noticed, to avoid complications at check-in. Changes are not permitted after check-in or once any flight in the booking has been taken.
  • Fees for name changes vary by fare type, route, and timing, starting from a base amount per passenger per one-way flight for Basic or Optima fares, plus any fare difference. Minor corrections within a short grace period or specific changes like translating first names are free via the Customer Services Centre. Excellence fare holders can change names for free at any time.
  • Passengers must ensure the name matches their passport or ID exactly to comply with security regulations, particularly for international flights. For passengers with single names or names exceeding character limits, specific formatting rules may apply, and assistance from customer service may be required.
  • For legal name changes, original or certified copies of supporting documents must be provided for verification.
  • Passengers with bookings through third-party platforms should contact their booking agent promptly, as Vueling may not process changes directly for such reservations.
  • Passengers with travel insurance must update the policy separately to reflect any name changes made with Vueling.
