Wizzair Flight Change Policy

Wizz Air, a European low-cost airline, offers a flexible flight change policy with rules and fees varying by fare type and timing. Below is an overview of the flight change policy based on available information.

Online Changes

Passengers who booked directly through the Wizz Air website or mobile app can modify bookings via their WIZZ Account by entering their booking confirmation number and email or last name. Changes include flight date, time, or destination, and can be made up to three hours before departure. Online changes are not available for group bookings, bookings made through travel agencies, or after online check-in. Changes to additional services like seats or baggage must be rebooked separately.

Third-Party Bookings

For tickets purchased through travel agents or third-party platforms, passengers must contact the issuing agent to request changes, as direct modifications through Wizz Air are not permitted. Additional handling fees may apply, and passengers may need to provide payment details like the last four digits of the card used.

Fare Types and Change Rules

Wizz Air offers fare types such as Basic, WIZZ Go, WIZZ Plus, and add-ons like WIZZ Flex, each with distinct change policies:

  • Basic: Changes incur a fee per passenger per flight, plus fare differences.
  • WIZZ Go and WIZZ Plus: Changes incur a fee, but include additional services like baggage, which may also require fee adjustments.
  • WIZZ Flex: Allows unlimited changes to date, time, or destination up to three hours before departure without a change fee, but fare differences apply. Must be purchased at booking.

For return bookings, both outbound and inbound flights must maintain consistent origin and destination airports.

Change Fees

Changes made within a day of booking are free if the flight is at least a week away, per U.S. Department of Transportation rules for flights involving the USA. Beyond this period, Basic, WIZZ Go, and WIZZ Plus fares incur a fee per passenger per flight, which varies based on days remaining until departure. Fees are higher for changes made via the Call Centre or airport compared to online. WIZZ Flex waives change fees but not fare differences. Additional Call Centre transaction fees apply for phone requests. If WIZZ Discount Club benefits are lost due to a change, a fee for the fare difference applies.

Fare Differences

If the new flight is more expensive, passengers must pay the fare difference for all fare types. If the new fare is lower, no refund is provided for the difference, though lower taxes may be refunded. For WIZZ Discount Club members, changing a flight to travel without the member incurs an additional fee for lost benefits.

Time Limits

Changes are permitted up to three hours before departure for eligible fares, subject to availability. Tickets are valid for one year from issuance, and changes must occur within this period. No changes are allowed for partially used tickets after the outbound flight has departed, except for the return leg’s date or time.

Destination Changes

Route changes are allowed for all fare types up to three hours before departure, subject to a fee (unless WIZZ Flex is purchased) and fare differences. For return bookings, both flights must be changed to maintain consistent origin and destination airports. Changes must be processed via the Call Centre for complex itineraries or partner-operated flights.

Name Changes

Name changes to transfer a ticket to another person are permitted up to three hours before departure, subject to a fee per passenger per flight. Minor corrections, such as fixing typos (up to three characters), adding a middle name, swapping first and last names, or changing a maiden name to a married name, are free if made online via the WIZZ Account. Changes via the Call Centre incur an additional transaction fee. Documentation may be required for name changes due to marriage or divorce.

Airline-Initiated Changes

If Wizz Air cancels or significantly delays a flight by more than a few hours, passengers can accept a new schedule, rebook on another Wizz Air flight within a couple of weeks before or a month after the original date without fees, or request a refund to their WIZZ Account or original payment method. EU Regulation EC 261 may entitle passengers to compensation for cancellations with less than a couple of weeks’ notice, unless due to extraordinary circumstances. Notifications are sent via email or through agents if contact details are provided. Passengers must confirm changes in their WIZZ Account, as issues have been reported with missing “Accept” options.

How to Change Your Flight

Passengers can modify bookings through the following methods:

  • Online: Log into the WIZZ Account, select the booking under “Details,” click “Make changes,” choose “Change flight,” select passengers and new flight details, and pay any applicable fees via credit card.
  • Offline: Contact the Wizz Air Call Centre, Live Chat, or airport desk, noting higher fees may apply.
  • Third-Party: Contact the agent directly to process changes, providing necessary payment details.
Additional Notes
  • Passengers should review fare rules at booking, as conditions vary by fare type. WIZZ Flex offers the most flexibility but must be purchased at booking.
  • Third-party services like insurance or airport transfers are not automatically amended and require contacting the provider directly.
  • WIZZ Discount Club or MultiPass members may face additional fees if changing flights affects membership benefits.
